Background: Endometriosis is a complex gynecological disorder characterized by the ectopic growth of endometrial tissue. Symptoms of endometriosis are known to impair the quality of life of patients, and among these are found dysmenorrhea, chronic pelvic pain, and gastrointestinal (GI) issues. GI issues such as painful bowel movements, bloating and constipation or diarrhea, are one of the common reasons for misdiagnosis with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, outpatient waits for gynaecology appointments increased by 60% in the UK National Health Service (NHS). The aim of this study was to use the electronic Personal Assessment Questionnaire-Menstrual, Pain and Hormonal (ePAQ-MPH) electronic patient reported outcome measure (ePROM) to assess symptoms, impact and potential harm for patients waiting > 60 weeks for general gynaecology appointments at a teaching hospital.
Methods: 1070 patients waiting > 60 weeks for a new appointment (range 60-72 weeks) were invited to complete ePAQ-MPH online to measure gynaecological symptoms and health-related quality-of-life (HRQoL).

Background: The objectives were to determine the prevalence of de novo and persistent pelvic pain after benign hysterectomy and to assess risk factors.
Methods: A Swedish prospective multicenter study of 440 women undergoing benign hysterectomy was conducted between October 2011 and March 2017. Measures of pain, the spatial extent of bodily pain, and pain sensitivity were assessed using a self-reporting questionnaire, Margolis's patient pain drawing, and quantitative sensory testing of pain thresholds for pressure, heat, and cold, respectively.

Background: Respectful, equitable, and supportive health care team interactions with patients and their companions are a key part of quality health care services. Despite the importance of communication and other aspects of engagement during inpatient postpartum care, little is known about how care is experienced during this period from families' perspectives.
Methods: This study collected video and audio data with 15 birthing families (n = 9 English-speaking and n = 6 Spanish-speaking) and their health care team members during inpatient postpartum care in a southeastern United States academic medical center.

Rationale: Spontaneous uterine rupture, although rare, is a life-threatening obstetric emergency with a high maternal and fetal mortality rate. It can occur without warning, leading to severe complications, including hemorrhage, shock, and fetal demise. The risk factors contributing to uterine rupture are diverse and include a history of uterine surgery (such as cesarean section), trauma to the uterus, abnormal uterine contractions during labor, and underlying conditions like adenomyosis.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) promotes the wound-healing process and reduces pain. Cord blood platelet-rich plasma (CB-PRP), which can be easily collected from the umbilical cord and reapplied to a cesarean section wound, has been proposed to have similar effects as PRP. This paper hypothesizes that CB-PRB would provide beneficial effects in terms of wound healing and pain reduction in women undergoing cesarean section.

Objectives: Endometriosis (EM), a prevalent estrogen-dependent inflammatory disorder affecting women of reproductive age, is characterized by the presence of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterus, resulting in pelvic scarring, pain, and infertility. Although the pathogenesis of EM remains poorly understood, there is growing evidence suggesting the involvement of the immune system in its etiology, pathophysiology, and associated morbidities such as pain, infertility, and adverse pregnancy outcomes. While previous studies have indicated a close relationship between the immune system and EM, the specific underlying mechanism remains incompletely elucidated.

Study Question: Is there an association between the somatic loss of PTEN (phosphatase and tensin homolog) and ARID1A (AT-rich interaction domain 1A) and endometriosis disease severity and worse clinical outcomes?
Summary Answer: Somatic PTEN loss in endometriosis epithelium was associated with greater disease burden and subsequent surgical complexity.
What Is Known Already: Somatic cancer-driver mutations including those involving the PTEN and ARID1A genes exist in endometriosis without cancer; however, their clinical impact remains unclear.
Study Design, Size, Duration: This prospective longitudinal study involved endometriosis tissue and clinical data from 126 participants who underwent surgery at a tertiary center for endometriosis (2013-2017), with a follow-up period of 5-9 years.

Background: Observational studies should not be used to infer causation as they are prone to confounding factors, selection bias, and reverse causality. Many observational studies of labor analgesia treated epidurals as an independent exposure and concluded that "epidurals" cause dystocia, despite multiple randomized controlled trials showing no effect. We highlight this problem using reductio ad absurdum.

Little is known about the role of the protective effects of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) in patients after radiotherapy. The aim of the present study was to explore the prophylactic effects of long-acting granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) on febrile neutropenia (FN) and myelosuppression in chemotherapy patients with gynecologic malignancies after pelvic radiotherapy. Patients voluntarily participated in a study group (long-acting G-CSF for all chemotherapy cycles) and a control group (short-acting G-CSF) after they were educated about G-CSF utilization.

Purpose: Vulvodynia and vaginismus are pain disorders associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes. The few published studies addressing this topic were limited in terms of the different outcomes studied; hence, the purpose of our study was to perform the first systematic review examining maternal, neonatal and obstetric outcomes in patients with vulvodynia and/or vaginismus (VV).
Methods: We conducted a systematic review searching PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library and SCOPUS until November 2023 for observational studies reporting maternal and/or neonatal outcomes of VV in pregnancy.
