Introduction: Cervical cancer is the fourth most diagnosed cancer among women globally, with much of the burden being carried by women in limited-resource settings often worsened by the high prevalence of HIV. Furthermore, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted organized screening efforts and HIV management regimens worldwide, and the impact of these disruptions have not been examined in these settings. The purpose of this paper is to describe whether uptake of cervical cancer screening and HIV management changed before, during, and since the COVID-19 pandemic in North-Central Nigeria.

Introduction: Human mobility is a critical aspect of existence and survival, but may compromise care engagement among people living with HIV (PLHIV). We examined the association between various forms of human mobility with retention in HIV care and antiretroviral treatment (ART) interruptions.
Methods: In a cohort of adult PLHIV in Kenya and Uganda, we collected surveys in 2016 about past 6-month travel and lifetime migration histories, including reasons and locations, and engagement in HIV care defined as (1) discontinuation of care, and (2) history of a treatment interruption among those who remained in care.

People capable of pregnancy are disproportionately affected by HIV. Family planning needs and services are often unmet in this population, and clinical care guidelines regarding contraceptive options and abortion care are not well elucidated. Individuals living with HIV often face unique barriers in accessing contraception and abortion services due to internalized stigma, medically complex care (eg, drug-drug interactions, adverse effects of antiretroviral therapy), and distrust of health care providers.

Background: Despite the availability of an effective vaccine, chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infections remain a major cause of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. HBV burden in pregnancy, risk factors and the timing of mother to child transmission remain poorly described especially during this era of lifelong use of Tenofovir/Lamivudine/Efavirenz as firstline for HIV treatment. We aimed to determine the burden of HBV in pregnancy and infants receiving their first dose of HBV vaccine 6 weeks after birth in a high HIV-prevalence setting.

Background: Preterm birth is a leading cause of death in children under the age of five. The risk of preterm birth is increased by maternal HIV infection as well as by certain antiretroviral regimens, leading to a disproportionate burden on low- and medium-income settings where HIV is most prevalent. Despite decades of research, the mechanisms underlying spontaneous preterm birth, particularly in resource limited areas with high HIV infection rates, are still poorly understood and accurate prediction and therapeutic intervention remain elusive.

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV is underutilized, particularly among attendees of obstetrics and gynecology (Ob/Gyn) clinics. Lack of self-perception of HIV risk is a barrier to PrEP utilization, and a lack of understanding of community risk factors for HIV may contribute to that lack of self-perception of risk. Attendees of general Ob/Gyn clinics in New Orleans completed a survey assessing HIV knowledge, self-perception of HIV risk, and interest in PrEP.

N-acetyltransferase 10 (NAT10) is an N-acetylcytidine (acC) writer that catalyzes RNA acetylation at cytidine N position on tRNAs, rRNAs and mRNAs. Recently, NAT10 and the associated acC have been reported to increase the stability of HIV-1 transcripts. Here, we show that NAT10 catalyzes acC addition to the polyadenylated nuclear RNA (PAN), a long non-coding RNA encoded by the oncogenic DNA virus Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), triggering viral lytic reactivation from latency.

Introduction: African adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) have high rates of HIV acquisition and are a priority population for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). PrEP implementation has been limited by AGYW's low perceived HIV risk and provider demands. A decision support tool (DST) with information about PrEP could improve clients' risk perception, knowledge about PrEP, informed decision-making and motivation to use PrEP based on their risk, facilitating PrEP delivery in primary healthcare (PHC) clinics.
