Introduction: BK polyomavirus-associated nephropathy (BKPyVAN) is a significant complication in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs), associated with a higher level of plasmatic BK polyomavirus (BKPyV) replication and leading to poor graft survival.

Methods: We prospectively followed-up with 100 KTRs with various degrees of BKPyV reactivation (no BKPyV reactivation, BKPyV-DNAuria, BKPyV-DNAemia, and biopsy-proven BKPyVAN [bp-BKPyVAN], 25 patients per group) and evaluated BKPyV-specific T cell functionality and phenotype.

Results: We demonstrate that bp-BKPyVAN is associated with a loss of BKPyV-specific T cell proliferation, cytokine secretion, and cytotoxic capacities.

Aims: Pediatric posterior fossa tumor (PFT) survivors experience long-term cognitive sequelae, including memory disorders, for which irradiation is one of the main risk factors. The aims of the present study were to (1) explore the profile of impairment in episodic, semantic, working and procedural memory systems in irradiated versus nonirradiated PFT survivors, and (2) test whether an autobiographical questionnaire and a two-phase ecological test (Epireal) assessing episodic memory are more sensitive to radiation-induced hippocampal damage than commonly used tests.

Materials And Methods: A total of 60 participants (22 irradiated PFT survivors, 17 nonirradiated PFT survivors, and 21 controls) were included in the prospective IMPALA study.

Background: Children with constitutional mismatch repair deficiency (CMMRD) syndrome have an increased risk of high-grade gliomas (HGG), and brain imaging abnormalities. This study analyzes brain imaging features in CMMRD syndrome children versus those with HGG without CMMRD.

Methods: Retrospective comparative analysis of brain imaging in 30 CMMRD children (20 boys, median age eight years, 22 with HGG), seven with Lynch syndrome (7 HGG), 39 with type 1 neurofibromatosis (NF1) (four with HGG) and 50 with HGG without MMR or NF1 pathogenic variant ("no-predisposition" patients).

Predicting distant recurrence of endometrial cancer (EC) is crucial for personalized adjuvant treatment. The current gold standard of combined pathological and molecular profiling is costly, hampering implementation. High-grade osteosarcoma is the most common paediatric bone cancer. More than one third of patients relapse and die of osteosarcoma using current chemotherapeutic and surgical strategies. Clathrin assemblies at a glance.

Clathrin assembles into honeycomb-like lattices at the plasma membrane but also on internal membranes, such as at the Golgi and tubular endosomes. Clathrin assemblies primarily regulate the intracellular trafficking of different cargoes, but clathrin also has non-endocytic functions in cell adhesion through interactions with specific integrins, contributes to intraluminal vesicle formation by forming flat bilayered coats on endosomes and even assembles on kinetochore k-fibers during mitosis. In this Cell Science at a Glance article and the accompanying poster, we review our current knowledge on the different types of canonical and non-canonical membrane-associated clathrin assemblies in mammalian cells, as observed by thin-section or platinum replica electron microscopy in various cell types, and discuss how the structural plasticity of clathrin contributes to its functional diversity.
