Adherence to medication, especially insulin, is a key contributor to diabetes treatment outcomes. Lack of adherence is common among patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) ranging from 23% to 77%, with a higher frequency in developing countries. Poor adherence results in worse glycaemic control and increased mortality and morbidity due to diabetes complications.

Background And Aims: Stress response after surgery induces local and systemic inflammation which may be detrimental if it goes unchecked. Blockade of afferent neurons or inhibition of hypothalamic function may mitigate the stress response.

Material And Methods: A total of 50 consenting adult ASA I/II patients undergoing elective abdominal surgery were randomized to receive either dexmedetomidine () or epidural bupivacaine () in addition to balanced general anesthesia.

Methods: Patients (18-60 years) with MDD diagnosed by DSM-V criteria and HAM-D score 18 or more were included ( = 60). Group A patients ( = 30) received sertraline 50 mg/day and desvenlafaxine 50 mg/day.

Comparison of the Efficacy of Macintosh Laryngoscope Versus Airtraq Videolaryngoscope for Visualization of Laryngeal Structures at the End of Thyroidectomy: A Randomized Control Study.

To compare the efficacy of conventional Macintosh laryngoscope with Airtraq videolaryngoscope for visualization of laryngeal structures to rule out recurrent laryngeal nerve injury at the end of thyroidectomy. This randomized double-blind control study was conducted following IEC-Human approval, prospective CTRI registration and written informed consent from participants. Patients of either sex, aged 18-65 years, ASA grade I/II, scheduled for thyroidectomy under GA were included.

Seroprotection With Three Dose vs Four Dose Schedule for Hepatitis B Vaccination in Children Living With Human Immunodeficiency Virus: Follow-up Data at 36-42 Months From a Randomized Controlled Trial.

Objective: To compare the long-term seroprotection (anti-HBs ≥10 IU/L) in children living with HIV (CLHIV) receiving a 3- or 4-dose double-strength (20 µg) recombinant Hepatitis B virus (rHBV) vaccination.

Methods: We present anti-retroviral therapy (ART) clinic based follow-up data collected from January, 2021 to August, 2022, from CLHIV who had received either 3-dose or 4-dose double-strength (20 µg) rHBV vaccination, after 36-42 months and assessed for anti-HBs titres, naïve and memory T-helper lymphocytes, CD4 counts and HIV viral load. Children found unprotected after primary immunization, were administered a single double-strength rHBV vaccine booster dose (20 µg) and seroprotection was reassessed after 4 and 12 weeks.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted between November, 2019 and October, 2021 in the pediatric emergency department of tertiary hospital in Delhi. 250 patients aged 0-12 years coming to pediatric emergency on pre-decided days for health-related complaints were enrolled.

Hence to prevent these complications associated with postterm pregnancy, induction of labor is done, as per our institution protocol between 40 and 41 weeks of gestation. Induction has its own drawback, so it is essential to identify the women with high chances of failure of induction of labor, to prevent the morbidities associated with induction failure.

Phenytoin-Associated Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis Overlap in Focus: A Case Report.

Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis overlap is a rare but severe cutaneous hypersensitivity reaction that can lead to death if not treated aggressively and adequately. Drug-induced hypersensitivity reactions are often related to drug exposure, with sulfonamides, anti-epileptics, fluoroquinolones, cephalosporins, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs being the most common culprits. This case report describes a 10-year-old boy who was administered phenytoin at a local clinic to manage his seizures.

Background: There is paucity of data on incidence and pattern of drug resistance in spinal TB. This prospective observational study was conducted to document the incidence and drug-resistance pattern among primary and presumptive resistant cases.

Methods: 59 consecutive cases diagnosed clinico-radiologically (imaging) were grouped into Group A ( = 51, primary cases) and Group B ( = 8, presumptive resistant cases) based on pre-defined criteria (INDEX-TB guidelines).

The targeted delivery of therapeutic and imaging agents is quite challenging in lung cancer therapy. Thus, lung cancer causes high mortality across the world. Herein, we developed TPGS-PF127 micelles containing cisplatin (CDDP) as a model anticancer drug and gadolinium (Gd) as a diagnostic agent by a slightly modified solvent casting method, further, the surface of the micelles was modified using TPGS-transferrin (TPGS-Tf) conjugate to improve targeted delivery of micelles to the lung cancer cells.

Calculation of effective dose of phenylephrine bolus for treatment of post-spinal hypotension in pre-eclamptic patients undergoing caesarean section - a non-randomised controlled trial.

Background: Patients with pre-eclampsia require smaller vasopressor doses compared with those with normotension for management of post-spinal hypotension during caesarean section. However, the literature has little evidence as to the phenylephrine dose required for patients with pre-eclampsia.

Methods: Fifty patients, with either pre-eclampsia or normotension, and developing post-spinal hypotension during caesarean section under spinal anaesthesia, were studied.

Inflammatory markers in geriatric anemia: A study from North India.

Background: Inflammation has several effects in the geriatrics with reference to iron deficiency anemia (IDA), anemia of chronic disease (ACD), and unexplained anemia (UA). Whether hyperinflammation is part of their pathogenesis or just incidental is unknown. Data are limited regarding inflammatory patterns in IDA, ACD, and UA in anemic geriatrics and inflammation as a component of UA.
