AMEE Guides are clear and contemporary accounts of concepts in health professions education, which are written by experts, to be read and understood by someone new to the field. Over the years, they have responded to the needs of educators and researchers as the knowledge and practice of health professions education has grown. The Guides cover all domains of medical and health professions education.

Introduction: While several studies have examined stroke public knowledge and awareness in individual countries within the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, none have provided a comprehensive cross-country assessment.

Purpose: To assess public stroke knowledge and awareness among Arabic-speaking adults in seven MENA countries and identify associated factors.

Materials And Methods: An online cross-sectional survey was self-administered by the public population in Iraq, Lebanon, Sudan, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Syria, and Saudi Arabia (April 2021-2023).

Application of artificial intelligence-based detection of furcation involvement in mandibular first molar using cone beam tomography images- a preliminary study.

Background: Radiographs play a key role in diagnosis of periodontal diseases. Deep learning models have been explored for image analysis in periodontal diseases. However, there is lacuna of research in the deep learning model-based detection of furcation involvements [FI].

Psychometric properties of the Arabic Stress Numerical Rating Scale (SNRS-11) in adolescents.

Meta-analytic results have revealed a significant influence of stress on a wide array of psychological and behavioral markers, underscoring its considerable clinical importance. Providing a simple and cost-effective tool assessing stress for the Arabic-speaking population would be immensely beneficial. Therefore, our research objective was to examine the psychometric properties of an Arabic version of the Stress Numerical Rating Scale-11 (Arabic SNRS-11), including its reliability, and construct validity.

Introduction: Malnutrition, particularly wasting, continues to be a significant public health issue among children under five years in Egypt. Despite global advancements in child health, the prevalence of wasting remains a critical concern. This study employs machine learning techniques to identify and analyze the determinants of wasting in this population.

Effect of Hypoxia on Siglec-7 and Siglec-9 Receptors and Sialoglycan Ligands and Impact of Their Targeting on NK Cell Cytotoxicity.

Background/objectives: Tumor microenvironmental hypoxia is an established hallmark of solid tumors. It significantly contributes to tumor aggressiveness and therapy resistance and has been reported to affect the balance of activating/inhibitory surface receptors' expression and activity on NK cells. In the current study, we investigated the impact of hypoxia on the surface expression of Siglec-7 and Siglec-9 (Sig-7/9) and their ligands in NK cells and tumor target cells.

Crosstalk Between Oxidative Stress and Epigenetics: Unveiling New Biomarkers in Human Infertility.

The correlation between epigenetic alterations and the pathophysiology of human infertility is progressively being elucidated with the discovery of an increasing number of target genes that exhibit altered expression patterns linked to reproductive abnormalities. Several genes and molecules are emerging as important for the future management of human infertility. In men, microRNAs (miRNAs) like miR-34c, miR-34b, and miR-122 regulate apoptosis, sperm production, and germ cell survival, while other factors, such as miR-449 and sirtuin 1 (SIRT1), influence testicular health, oxidative stress, and mitochondrial function.

Bridging knowledge gaps: impact of remedial classes on first-year medical students in biochemistry - a cross-sectional study.

Background: Remedial teaching is a tailored educational approach dedicated to enhancing the academic performance of students facing challenges within the curriculum. By identifying and addressing specific learning difficulties, it provides essential support and guidance to bring students closer to expected standards while preventing future setbacks. We hypothesize that underperforming medical students who receive daily, tailored remediation will demonstrate significant improvement in their formative and summative assessment scores in biochemistry.

Ethical issues in palliative care: nursing and quality of life.

Background: Nurses occupy a pivotal role in the provision of palliative care, acting as frontline providers who address the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of patients. The complexities inherent in palliative care frequently give rise to ethical dilemmas that significantly impact nurses' decision-making and patient interactions. It is therefore essential to gain an understanding of nurses' perceptions of ethical issues, quality of life, and adherence to patient rights in order to enhance the care delivered in these settings.

Translation and validation of the caffeine use disorder questionnaire in Arabic.

Background: Due to the elevated global prevalence of its consumption, and the detrimental health effects it can have, caffeine use disorder (CUD) should receive a great deal of attention from clinicians and the research community in Arab countries as an area of concern. To help advance the field, this study aimed to translate the Caffeine Use Disorder Questionnaire (CUDQ) into the Arabic language, and examine its psychometric properties in community adults.

Methods: A descriptive, observational and cross-sectional study was carried out during the period from May to July 2024.

Radiographers, as the first point of contact for patients, need strong communication skills to ensure safety and facilitate effective interactions.

Introduction: Perceptions of environmental sustainability among radiographers can potentially be influenced by individual experiences and educational backgrounds. This study aims to investigate the perceptions and practices of radiographers regarding sustainability initiatives, emphasizing the significance of understanding their diverse experiences and backgrounds.

Methods: This was an online survey involving 104 radiographers from various regions worldwide to evaluate their training related to global warming, their perceptions of sustainability, current practices, and the barriers they face in implementing sustainability practices.

Five Dimensions of AI Readiness (AIR-5D) Framework- A Preparedness Assessment Tool for Healthcare Organizations.

: Artificial Intelligence (AI) has transformative potential in healthcare, and it is very useful in areas such as drug discovery, diagnostics, and patient management. However, there is a lack of tools to assess healthcare organizations' readiness to adopt AI technologies. This study introduces the AI Readiness Five Dimension (AIR-5D) framework, addressing this gap.

Paving the Road for Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in the United Arab Emirates: A Single Centre's Experience.

Background: Despite its long-term history, haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) still faces challenges in several countries under development and especially in the private health sector.

Objectives Design And Methods: In this retrospective analysis, we present our experience and the results of 48 adult patients who underwent HSCT (autologous 37, allogeneic 9) at a private-sector hospital in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The main indications were multiple myeloma and acute myeloid leukaemia in the autologous and allogeneic setting, respectively.

Reproductomics: Exploring the Applications and Advancements of Computational Tools.

Over recent decades, advancements in omics technologies, such as proteomics, genomics, epigenomics, metabolomics, transcriptomics, and microbiomics, have significantly enhanced our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying various physiological and pathological processes. Nonetheless, the analysis and interpretation of vast omics data concerning reproductive diseases are complicated by the cyclic regulation of hormones and multiple other factors, which, in conjunction with a genetic makeup of an individual, lead to diverse biological responses. Reproductomics investigates the interplay between a hormonal regulation of an individual, environmental factors, genetic predisposition (DNA composition and epigenome), health effects, and resulting biological outcomes.

The impact of the educational environment on student engagement and academic performance in health professions education.

Background: This research explores the relationships between the educational environment, student engagement, and academic achievement in Health Professions Education (HPE) , specifically examining the mediating role of engagement.

Methods: The study used cross-sectional design, and data were collected from 554 HPE students via self-report questionnaires. The Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) assessed the educational environment while the University Student Engagement Inventory measured learning engagement across the behavioral, emotional, and cognitive dimensions.

Effect of Cryotherapy and Occlusal Reduction on Postoperative Endodontic Pain in Mandibular First Molars with Symptomatic Apical Periodontitis: A Prospective, Parallel, Double-Blinded Randomized Controlled Trial.

Objectives:  This study aimed to compare the intensity of postoperative pain following the final rinse using cold saline compared with room temperature saline and occlusal reduction.

Materials And Methods:  A prospective, parallel, double-blinded randomized controlled trial was conducted on 69 first mandibular molars diagnosed with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis and symptomatic apical periodontitis. Single-visit root canal treatment was performed; access cavity preparations and chemomechanical preparations were carried out using the ProTaper Gold rotary system under copious irrigation using 3% sodium hypochlorite and 17% EDTA.
