Animal Microecology Institute, College of Veterinary Medicine, Sichuan Agricultural University, Chengdu, Sichuan, China. Electronic address:

Fluoride exposure is widespread worldwide and poses a significant threat to organisms, particularly to their gastrointestinal tracts. However, due to limited knowledge of the mechanism of fluoride induced intestinal injury, it has been challenging to develop an effective treatment. To address this issue, we used a series of molecular biology in vitro and in vivo experiments.

Background: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a progressive disease affecting the lung vasculature that is characterized by sustained vasoconstriction and leads to vascular remodeling. The lung microbiome contributes to PH progression, but the function of the gut microbiome and the correlation between the gut microbiome and metabolome remain unclear. We have analyzed whether chronic hypoxia-induced PH alters the rat fecal microbiota.

Background: Retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) is the main treatments for upper urinary tract stones. The Ureteral Access Sheath (UAS) serves as a supplementary tool, facilitating direct kidney access during RIRS. High quality of evidence comparing tip bendable suction ureteral access sheath (S-UAS) with traditional UAS in RIRS for the treatment of renal and ureteral stones is lacking.

Introduction: Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV) belonging to the Phenuiviridae family is responsible for a zoonotic disease called Rift Valley fever (RVF). Currently, RVFV has spread from Africa to Asia, and due to its ability to cause high mortality rates, it has significantly impacted human health and economic development in many societies. Highly specific and sensitive systems for sero-diagnosis of RVFV infection are needed for clinical use.

Article Synopsis
  • Imatinib (IM) is the main treatment for chronic-phase CML, but some patients develop resistance, making it less effective.
  • The study investigates miR-629-5p levels in extracellular vesicles from both IM-sensitive and IM-resistant CML cell lines and its effect on cell behavior.
  • Results show that EVs from resistant cells increase miR-629-5p levels in sensitive cells, activate the SENP2/PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway, and contribute to IM resistance in CML.

Identification of macrophage-related genes in bladder cancer patients using single-cell sequencing and construction of a prognostic model.

Am J Clin Exp Immunol

June 2024

Center of Reproduction, The Affiliated Suzhou Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Suzhou Municipal Hospital, Gusu School, Nanjing Medical University Suzhou 215002, Jiangsu, PR China.

Unlabelled: Single-cell sequencing is an emerging technology that can effectively identify cell types in tumors. In the tumor microenvironment of bladder cancer, macrophages play a crucial role in invasion and immune escape. This study aimed to assess the expression of macrophage-related genes (MRGs) in the tumor microenvironment of bladder cancer patients and construct a prognostic model based on MRGs using bioinformatics methods.

Article Synopsis
  • Infection involves the persistence of bacteria and chronic gastritis, marked by infiltration of mononuclear cells in the gastric mucosa.
  • Angiopoietin-like 4 (ANGPTL4) has both pro-colonization and pro-inflammatory effects in this context, with higher levels found in infected gastric tissue, correlating with bacteria colonization and gastritis severity.
  • ANGPTL4 influences immune responses by interacting with specific cell receptors to modulate inflammation, suggesting that targeting its pathways could offer new treatment strategies for infection-related gastritis.

Background: There seems to be a close link between the changing levels of selenoproteins, which are important for maintaining redox homeostasis in the body, and acute rejection of kidney transplants. The aim of this study was to explore the diagnostic value of selenoprotein change characteristics in renal tissues for acute rejection of kidney transplantation.

Methods: We first explored the potential biological functions of 25 selenoproteins in the human body by enrichment analysis and used the HPA database to clarify the expression levels of selenoproteins in kidney tissues; We then constructed a diagnostic model using "Logistic regression analysis" and "Nomogram model"; Calibration curves and ROC curves were used to evaluate the diagnostic models, and clinical decision curves (DCA) were used to assess the diagnostic value of selenoprotein changes to the clinic; Single-gene GSEA enrichment analysis to further explore the potential regulatory mechanisms of selenoproteins; The Cibersort algorithm explores the level of immune cell infiltration and uses correlation analysis to clarify the correlation between selenoproteins and immune cells; We further assessed the diagnostic value of selenoproteins in kidney transplantation ABMR and TCMR, respectively.

Introduction: Abundant evidence suggests that the overexpression of CDK2-cyclin A/E complex disrupts normal cell cycle regulation, leading to uncontrolled proliferation of cancer cells. Thus, CDK2 has become a promising therapeutic target for cancer treatment. In recent years, insights into the structures of the CDK2 catalytic site and allosteric pockets have provided notable opportunities for developing more effective clinical candidates of CDK2 inhibitors.

  • Immunochemotherapy is the main treatment for extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC), and adding anti-angiogenesis may enhance its effectiveness.
  • The ETER701 trial tested a new treatment combining benmelstobart (a PD-L1 inhibitor) and anlotinib (an anti-angiogenic drug) with standard chemotherapy in newly diagnosed ES-SCLC patients.
  • The results showed that those receiving benmelstobart and anlotinib had significantly longer overall survival compared to the standard chemotherapy alone, with manageable side effects, indicating this combination could be a promising first-line treatment.
