Invasive meningococcal disease, caused by (), is a critical global health issue, necessitating swift and precise diagnostics for effective management and control. Here, we introduce a novel diagnostic assay, NM-RT-MCDA, that combines multiple cross displacement amplification (MCDA) with real-time fluorescence detection, targeting a specific gene region in the genome. The assay utilizes a primer set designed for high specificity and incorporates a fluorophore-quencher pair with a restriction endonuclease site for real-time monitoring.

African swine fever (ASF) is a devastating disease that can kill almost all infected pigs, causing great damage to the pig industry and destabilizing the global economy. Here, we developed a specific assay that combined multiple cross-displacement amplification (MCDA) with a nanoparticle-based lateral flow biosensor (LFB) for early and rapid identification of the African swine fever virus (ASFV-MCDA-LFB). We first designed a set of MCDA primers to recognize 10 different regions of the target ASFV gene.

Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • Epidemiological studies suggest that exposure to glyphosate-based herbicides (GBHs) may increase the risk of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), with gut microbiota potentially playing a key role in this connection.
  • Researchers exposed mice to varying low doses of GBHs and observed ASD-like behaviors, including social impairment and repetitive actions in the offspring.
  • The study revealed that maternal exposure to GBHs altered the gut microbiota and metabolites in offspring, potentially impacting gut permeability and the blood-brain barrier, indicating that certain circular RNAs may disrupt gut-brain interactions linked to ASD.

December 2024

Department of Laboratorial Science and Technology & Vaccine Research Center, School of Public Health, Peking University, Beijing, P. R. China.

Infant hepatitis B vaccine coverage in China is high, with over 95% of infants immunized; however, high vaccine coverage can often mask low timeliness. The vaccination interval between the second and third doses is not clearly defined by immunization guidelines in China. This retrospective cohort study assessed the time interval distribution of hepatitis B vaccination among a cohort of randomly selected live births from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention across four provinces or municipalities in China between January 2017 and December 2021.

MOE Joint International Research Laboratory of Animal Health and Food Safety, College of Veterinary Medicine, Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing, China.

Classical Swine Fever (CSF), caused by the Classical Swine Fever Virus (CSFV), inflicts significant economic losses on the global pig industry. A key factor in the challenge of eradicating this virus is its ability to evade the host's innate immune response, leading to persistent infections. In our study, we elucidate the molecular mechanism through which CSFV exploits m6A modifications to circumvent host immune surveillance, thus facilitating its proliferation.
