Frequent exchange of surface water and groundwater in karst agricultural areas results in soil nutrient loss during rainfall and consequent deterioration of the aquatic environment. To understand nitrogen (N) transformation and leaching processes from karst soil during rainfall events, two typical N fertilizers were added to karst soil and consequently investigated the nitrogenous species using soil column experiments system. The contents of various N forms in the soil and leachate were analyzed, and the net nitrification and the N leaching rates were calculated.

The application of sand-clay mixtures is diverse in contemporary engineering practices, with particular emphasis on their shear strength characteristics. This study focused on the estimation of the shear strength of sand-clay mixtures using the artificial neural network (ANN) and low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. In this study, NMR tests and triaxial compression tests were carried out on 160 artificial sand-clay mixtures with different mineralogical compositions, water contents, and dry densities in the laboratory to obtain the T spectra and shear strength indices, respectively.

This paper addresses the event-based sliding mode control problem for singularly perturbed systems with switching parameters. Unlike traditional Markovian switching systems, singularly perturbed S-MSSs allow more flexible state transitions, which can be described by a general distribution rather than the exponential distribution assumed in Markovian switching systems. To enhance the performance of such systems, a novel memory-based dynamic event-triggered protocol (DETP) is proposed, incorporating a memory term for the auxiliary offset variable.

This paper reports a method for determining the carbonation rate (CR) of precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) during carbonation process based on headspace gas chromatography technique. The method was carried out by simultaneously detecting the signal values of carbon dioxide and oxygen. Then the carbonation rate of precipitated calcium carbonate in the carbonation process can be calculated by the ratio (γ) of carbon dioxide to oxygen based on a new mathematical model.

Exploring the trend of long time-series ecological quality evolution and spatial differentiation of influencing factors in Guiyang is of great significance for realizing regional ecological protection and high-quality development strategies. Based on the 7-period Landsat remote sensing images from 1991 to 2020, the remote sensing ecological index (RSEI) of Guiyang from 1991 to 2020 was calculated using the GEE remote sensing big data platform, and a geodetector, Hurst index, and coefficient of variation with different random sampling quantities and classification strategies were used to analyze the evolutionary pattern of ecological quality, change trends, and spatial differentiation influencing factors. The results showed that ① The ecological quality of Guiyang in the past 30 years was mainly medium and good, showing a wave-like pattern of change, with the highest and lowest values occurring in 2020 (mean value 0.

Disinfection by-products (DBPs), formed from biofilm extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) and organic matter during regular disinfection practices in drinking water distribution systems, poses a potential threat to drinking water safety. However, the diverse DBP formations induced by the intertwined algal organic matter (AOM) and bacterial EPS remains elusive. In this study, we show substantial variations in EPS and DBP formation patterns driven by AOM biosorption with divalent ions (Ca and Mg).

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is defined by the release of pro-inflammatory factors, leading to structural damage in renal tubules and subsequent tubular cell injury and death. Delivering drugs specifically to renal tubules to mitigate tubular cell damage holds potential for AKI treatment. In this work, we developed functional liposomes (LZM-PLNPs-TP) designed to bypass the glomerular filtration barrier and target tubules by leveraging the unique structural and pathological characteristics of glomeruli and tubules.

β-N-Acetylglucosaminidases and/or β-N-acetylhexosaminidases (NAGs / Hexes) are crucial exonucleases, playing a crucial role in the insect molting process. SfHex3 and SfHex4 contain conserved catalytic domains of GH20 and GH20b, clustered into NAG2 and NAG1 group, respectively. SfHex3 and SfHex4 were mainly highly expressed in the 4th-5th instar nymphs, as well as in the integument and ovary.

Real-time monitoring of key quality variables is essential and crucial for stable and safe operations of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). Next generation reservoir computing (NG-RC) has recently garnered significant attention in quality prediction, such as COD and BOD, as an effective alternative to traditional reservoir computing (RC), then is able to act as a data-driven soft sensor to twin a hardware sensor for quality variable measurements. Unlike RC, NG-RC does not require random sampling matrices to define the weights of recurrent neural networks and has fewer hyperparameters.

Human activities and stream accumulation influence carbon loadings, altering the distributions and characteristics of dissolved inorganic and organic carbon in rivers. It is widely recognized that such alterations affect dissolved organic matter (DOM) components, water environment and river carbon dioxide (CO) degassing, however, the control factors by which land use/land cover (LULC) and DOM components regulate the partial pressure of CO (pCO) are unclear. Here, in the Daning karst river system, an extensive investigation was presented to investigate the role of LULC and DOM components in influencing the spatial and temporal variability of pCO, as well as to investigate the regulating effect of stream order and hydrological rhythm on this influence.

Quantification of kinetics parameters is indispensable for atmospheric modeling. Although theoretical methods can offer a reliable tool for obtaining quantitative kinetics for atmospheric reactions, reliable predictions are often limited by computational costs to reactions of small molecules. This is especially true when one needs to ensure high accuracy by going beyond coupled cluster theory with single and double excitations and quasiperturbative connected triple excitations with a complete basis set.
