Aim And Background: Due to the radiosensitivity and deep anatomical location of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), radiotherapy serves as the cornerstone of standardized treatment for this malignancy. Beyond its cytotoxic effects, radiotherapy can serve as an immunological adjuvant by inducing immunogenic cell death (ICD). Dendritic cells (DCs), as potent antigen-presenting cells, play a critical role in tumor immunotherapy, but their exact role in the ICD process of NPC remains unclear.

The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility of a bowel management program for patients with neurogenic bowel function after spinal cord injury. The program is based on evidence-based nursing, expert meeting and pre-experiment construction, the construction process is standardized and scientific, and the content is comprehensive, mainly includes 4 dimensions of bowel assessment, bowel intervention, assessment indices and discharge follow-up, which were carried out at the time of admission (T1), discharge (T2) and 1 month after discharge (T3) of patients in the experimental group, while the control group used routine orthopedic bowel management, and bowel function indices, quality of life and laboratory tests were used as outcome indices, and differences in the observed indices of patients in the two groups were compared to validate the effect of the program. Compared with the control group, the incidence of bloating, constipation and fecal incontinence was significantly reduced in the experimental group, while the frequency of defecation scores, fecal character scores, Neurogenic Bowel Dysfunction scores, laboratory test results and quality of life were also effectively improved.

To explore the efficacy and safety profile of sofosbuvir/velpatasvir/voxilaprevir ± ribavirin (SOF/VEL/VOX±RBV) for salvage treatment of chronic hepatitis C patients who have failed direct-acting antivirals (DAAs). Patients with chronic hepatitis C who failed DAAs±RBV treatment and were treated in five hospitals in Chongqing, Guangdong, Guizhou, and Guangxi from January 2022 to December 2023 were included in this retrospective study. One or more courses of DAAs±RBV therapy were evaluated for all patients who had been previously treated.

This study investigates the correlations of mucin 5B (MUC5B) rs2672794, rs2075854, and rs868903 polymorphisms and MUC5B expression level with the risk of the onset of coal workers' pneumoconiosis (CWP). Overall, 506 Han Chinese men were included in this study. Among them, 143 were healthy individuals, 132 were dust-exposed workers who underwent health monitoring periodically, and 231 were patients with CWP.

Third-generation epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) are the first-line treatment of choice for patients with EGFR-mutant advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, patients treated with these inhibitors eventually develop resistance. One of the most common mechanisms is the emergence of the EGFR C797S mutation.

The latest World Health Organization Classification of Tumors, Fifth Edition, recognizes the invasive encapsulated follicular variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma (IEFVPTC) as a distinct malignant entity rather than a subtype of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). This reclassification highlights the need to explore potential prognostic differences between IEFVPTC and classic PTC. This study utilized the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database to compare prognoses of patients diagnosed with IEFVPTC and classic PTC between 2004 and 2019.

Background: This study aims to investigate the relationship between hepatitis B virus (HBV) RNA level and pregnancy outcomes among hepatitis B carriers.
Methods: This study collected pregnant women who attended the Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou Medical University (Guizhou, China) from June 2020 to June 2023. The levels of HBV DNA, HBV RNA, and HBeAg status in HBV carriers were detected.

Background: As the social economy has developed and population mobility has increased, differences in the Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) genotype distribution among men who have sex with men (MSM) have become apparent in the provinces and cities across China. The high variability and drug resistance characteristics of HIV-1 can lead to the widespread spread of resistant strains, which may also result in antiretroviral therapy failure and an increase in the mortality rate.
Objective: The genotypic drug resistance characteristics and HIV-1 transmission risks among HIV-1-infected MSM in Guiyang, Guizhou Province were analyzed in the current study.

The mitochondrial malic enzyme 2 (ME2), which is frequently elevated during carcinogenesis and may be a target for cancer therapy, catalyzes the conversion of malate to pyruvate. The processes controlling ME2 activity, however, remain largely unclear. In this work, we show that human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissues contain high levels of ME2 and that the methylation of ME2 stimulates the growth and migration of HCC cells.

However, real-world evidence for this regimen in late-presenting patients with HIV-1 (PWH) is lacking. We investigated the virologic and safety outcomes of BIC/FTC/TAF in late-presenting PWH.

Objectives: This investigation explored the mechanism by which the total flavonoids of (P.Beauv.) Spring (TFST) mitigate oxidative stress through the activation of the heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) signaling pathway mediated by nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), thereby ameliorating acute lung injury (ALI) induced by diabetes.

Pleural parasitic infection is an extremely rare disease of the pleura caused by a variety of parasites, with paragonimiasis infection being the most common. The lack of specific clinical symptoms for paragonimiasis makes it easy to misdiagnose as tuberculosis, causing unnecessary drug-related adverse effects and financial burdens from incorrect treatment. We report a case of a pediatric patient presenting with an isolated pleural effusion that was misdiagnosed as tuberculosis; the patient was eventually diagnosed with pleuropulmonary paragonimiasis infection after immunologic and serologic tests.

Background: The effectiveness of post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) depends on participants adherence, making it crucial to assess and compare regimen options to enhance human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) prophylaxis strategies. However, no prospective study in China has shown that the completion rate and adherence of single-tablet regimens in HIV PEP are higher than those of multi-tablet preparations. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the completion rate and adherence of two HIV PEP regimens.

In China, non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs) are integral to the antiretroviral therapy (ART) regimen for persons living with HIV (PWH), comprising over 80% of such treatments. To broaden treatment options and improve therapeutic effectiveness, Ainuovirine (ANV), a new NNRTI, was authorized for ART in 2021. Nevertheless, the clinical efficacy of ANV and its impact on blood biochemical markers remain somewhat underexplored.

Carrilizumab, a PD-1 inhibitor, has shown therapeutic effectiveness in patients with late-stage or metastatic solid tumors exhibiting DNA mismatch repair deficiency (dMMR) or microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H). dMMR/MSI-H cancer patients are known to be responsive to PD-1 inhibitors. However, the use of carrilizumab for preoperative immunotherapy in early, unresectable MSI-H/dMMR primary colon cancer lesions is relatively underexplored.
