Influenza B viruses (IBVs) primarily infect humans and are a common cause of respiratory infections in humans. Here, to systematically analyze the antigenicity of the IBVs Hemagglutinin (HA) protein, 31 ​B/Victoria and 19 ​B/Yamagata representative circulating strains were selected from Global Initiative of Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID), and pseudotyped viruses were constructed with the vesicular stomatitis virus system. Guinea pigs were immunized with three doses of vaccines (one dose of DNA vaccines following two doses of pseudotyped virus vaccines) of the seven IBV vaccine strains, and neutralizing antibodies against the pseudotyped viruses were tested.

Background: Worldwide, 10% of postpartum women experience postpartum depression, which can lead to diverse sequalae at individual, family, and societal levels. In sub-Saharan Africa, it is estimated that 17% of women experience depression in the postpartum period, which could be an underestimate as 48% of women in the region do not receive postnatal care (81% in Ethiopia and 51% in Guinea) and a large share of postpartum depression remains undiagnosed and untreated as a result. Globally, despite a critical evidence gap, there are growing reports of postpartum depression among women mistreated (disrespected and abused) during childbirth in health facilities, making a strong case to examine the association between mistreatment and postpartum depression.

High quality antibodies are useful tools for research in cell and developmental biology. We have obtained highly specific and potent guinea pig-derived polyclonal antibodies against Ce-lamin/ LMN-1 . Western blotting experiments using these antibodies demonstrated that maternally loaded Ce-lamin/ LMN-1 protein is very stable, can perdure through embryonic and larval development and remain detectable in homozygous null mutant adults.

Since its first discovery as a bioactive phospholipid inducing potent platelet aggregation, platelet-activating factor (PAF) has been shown to be involved in a wide variety of inflammatory and allergic disease states. Many pharmacological studies in the 1980s and 1990s also showed that PAF induces endothelium-dependent vascular relaxation and contraction of various smooth muscles (SMs), including those in the airway, gastrointestinal organs, and uterus. However, since the late 1990s, there have been few reports on the SM contractions induced by PAF.
