Purpose: The current study investigated the association between bicultural identity integration (BII, incorporating BII-harmony and BII-blendedness), national identity, and anxiety related to Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among ethnic minority college students. In addition, this research examined the mediation role of power values in the relationship between BII, national identity, and COVID-19-related anxiety.

Methods: This cross-sectional research design made use of online surveys.

The retention characteristics for water-soluble and water-insoluble particulate matter of five tree species along an air pollution gradient in Beijing, China.

Sci Total Environ

May 2021

School of Environment, Henan Normal University, Key Laboratory for Yellow River and Huai River Water Environment and Pollution Control, Ministry of Education, Henan Key Laboratory for Environmental Pollution Control, Xinxiang, Henan 453007, China. Electronic address:

The air purification potential of plants has been widely studied and recognized. However, their specific capacities in retaining water-soluble (WSPM) and water-insoluble (WIPM) atmospheric particulate matter (PM) are still unclear. In order to recommend tree species with high air phytoremediation ability, the retention characteristics for WSPM and WIPM of five tree species under different haze pollution levels and PM retention durations in Beijing were evaluated after introducing ultrasonic cleaning procedure to the conventional leaf cleaning methods.

Foliar Cellulose and Lignin Degradation of Two Dominant Tree Species in a Riparian Zone of the Three Gorges Dam Reservoir, China.

Front Plant Sci

December 2020

Key Laboratory of Eco-Environments in the Three Gorges Reservoir Region (Ministry of Education), State Cultivation Base of Eco-agriculture for Southwest Mountainous Land, College of Life Sciences, Southwest University, Chongqing, China.

The riparian zone can affect the degradation of foliar cellulose and lignin by changing the hydrological gradient of the foliage decomposition environment. However, their degradation dynamics during the process of foliage decomposition remain unclear in mixed plantation forests in a riparian zone. Herein, we explored degradation of cellulose and lignin for two dominant riparian species, bald cypress [ (L.

Heterogeneous leaves of predominant trees species enhance decomposition and nutrient release in the riparian zone of the Three Gorges Reservoir.

October 2020

Key Laboratory of Eco-Environments in the Three Gorges Reservoir Region (Ministry of Education), State Cultivation Base of Eco-Agriculture for Southwest Mountainous Land, College of Life Sciences, Southwest University, Chongqing, 400715, China.

The leaves of riparian plants are the main source of energy and nutrients in riparian ecosystems. In order to evaluate the nutrient release of reforested trees in a riparian zone, a field litterbag experiment involving three foliar types (the leaves of either coniferous and broadleaf trees as single-leaf treatment, or a mixture of coniferous and broadleaf leaves as a heterogenous-leaf treatment) and different submergence depths [no submergence (CK), shallow submergence (SS), and deep submergence (DS)] was conducted in situ in the Three Gorges Reservoir (TGR) for one year. The results showed that, when compared to the single-leaf treatment, the heterogenous-leaf treatment exhibited greater mass loss at both SS and DS, in contrast to a greater nitrogen release rate only at DS and a greater phosphorous release rate only at SS.

This research was conducted for the purpose of exploring the role of venture capital (VC) based on the heterogeneity of human capital in the process of transforming innovation capabilities of enterprise into enterprise benefits and providing a reference for further research on enterprise performance development. In this study, 399 listed companies that obtained VC before 2018 from the China VC database and Wind China financial database were selected as research objects, and relevant data of patent number, return on equity, Tobin's Q ratio, and research and development (R&D) investment ratio of each enterprise were obtained. Enterprise innovation ability was introduced to construct the relationship model of human-capital VC, enterprise innovation ability, and enterprise benefit, and the relationship between human-capital VC, enterprise innovation ability, and enterprise benefit was analyzed by the multiple-regression model.

Relative gene expression analyses by RT-qPCR (reverse transcription-quantitative PCR) are highly dependent on the reference genes in normalizing the expression data of target genes. Therefore, inappropriate endogenous control genes will lead to inaccurate target gene expression profiles, and the selection and validation of suitable internal reference genes becomes essential. In this study, we retrieved the commonly used reference genes in transcriptome datasets of Codonopsis pilosula by RNA-Seq (unpublished data), and selected 15 candidate reference genes according to the coefficient of variation (CV) and fold change (FC) value of gene expression.

Based on the theory of social construction and self-consistency, this study aims to investigate the mechanism of relational leadership's role in employees' unethical pro-organizational behavior (UPB) from the perspective of moral identity and ethical climate. We found that relational leadership negatively correlates with the instrumental ethical climate, positively correlates with caring ethical climate, and exerts no significant impact on the rule ethical climate. Instrumental ethical climate and caring ethical climate mediate the relationship between relational leadership and employees' unethical pro-organizational behavior.

Pinellia ternata is a traditional Chinese herb that suffers from continuous cropping (CC), which significantly decreases both yield and quality. The influence of CC on the microbiome in P. ternata rhizosphere and the effects of remediation on microbiota by rotational cropping (CR) were assessed by Illumina high-throughput sequencing technology.

This study revealed that iturin A-like lipopeptides produced by Bacillus subtillis induced both paraptosis and apoptosis in heterogeneous human epithelial colorectal adenocarcinoma (Caco-2) cells. Autophagy was simultaneously induced in Caco-2 cells treated with iturin A-like lipopeptides at the early stage and inhibited at the later stage. A western blot analysis showed that the lipopeptides induced apoptosis in Caco-2 cells via a mitochondrial-dependent pathway, as indicated by upregulated expression of the apoptotic genes bax and bad and downregulated expression of the antiapoptotic gene bcl-2.

Fine particles (PM) samples, collected at Weizhou Island over the Gulf of Tonkin on a daytime and nighttime basis in the spring of 2015, were analyzed for primary and secondary organic tracers, together with organic carbon (OC), elemental carbon (EC), and stable carbon isotopic composition (δC) of total carbon (TC). Five organic compound classes, including saccharides, lignin/resin products, fatty acids, biogenic SOA tracers and phthalic acids, were quantified by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Levoglucosan was the most abundant organic species, indicating that the sampling site was under strong influence of biomass burning.
