Institute of Pesticide and Environmental Toxicology, College of Agriculture and Biotechnology, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310058, P. R. China.

Chlorpyrifos (CPF) is a widely used organophosphate insecticide with serious toxicological effects on aquatic animals. Although extensively studied for neurotoxicity and endocrine disruption, its stage-specific effects on amphibian metamorphosis and receptor-level interactions remain unclear. This study investigated the effects of CPF on metamorphosis at environmentally relevant concentrations (1.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on Coix lacryma-jobi, an economically significant corn, by constructing a high-density genetic linkage map using a cross between specific parent strains and high-throughput sequencing techniques.* -
  • A total of 22,944 high-quality specific-locus amplified fragments (SLAFs) were identified, leading to the establishment of a genetic map with 3605 SLAFs grouped into ten linkage groups, covering a length of 1620.39 cM.* -
  • This genetic map is the first of its kind for C. lacryma-jobi and will aid in gene mapping, molecular breeding, and the efficient utilization of valuable genetic resources for improving crop traits.*

Article Synopsis
  • Ganoderma mushrooms are special because they contain unique chemicals called lanostane-type triterpenoids.
  • Researchers studied the Ganoderma amboinense mushrooms and discovered twelve new lanostane triterpenoids that were not known before.
  • Some of these new compounds can help prevent certain health issues, like high blood sugar and inflammation, with different strengths in their abilities.

Sorghum mosaic virus (SrMV, the genus of the family ) is a causal agent of common mosaic in sugarcane and poses a threat to the global sugar industry. In this study, a total of 901 sugarcane leaf samples with mosaic symptom were collected from eight provinces in China and were detected via RT-PCR using a primer pair specific to the SrMV coat protein (). These leaf samples included 839 samples from modern cultivars ( spp.

Lanostane triterpenoids with anti-proliferative and PTP1B/α-glucosidase inhibitory activities from the fruiting bodies of Ganoderma calidophilum.

Phytochemistry

November 2023

Key Laboratory of Research and Development of Natural Product from Li Folk Medicine of Hainan Province & National Key Laboratory for Tropical Crop Breeding, Institute of Tropical Bioscience and Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, Haikou, 571101, China. Electronic address:

Twelve previously undescribed and four known lanostane triterpenoids were isolated from the fruiting bodies of Ganoderma calidophilum. The structures of undescribed compounds, ganodecalones H-S (1-12), were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analysis as well as ECD and NMR calculations. Compound 4 showed significant inhibitory activity against human leukaemia cell line K562, gastric cancer cell line SGC-7901, and cervical cancer cell line HeLa with IC values of 13.

Background: Valine-glutamine (VQ) proteins are non-specific plant proteins that have a highly conserved motif: FxxhVQxhTG. These proteins are involved in the development of various plant organs such as seeds, hypocotyls, flowers, leaves and also play a role in response to salt, drought and cold stresses. Despite their importance, there is limited information available on the evolutionary and structural characteristics of VQ family genes in Coix lacryma-jobi.

Yellow leaf disease caused by sugarcane yellow leaf virus (SCYLV) is one of the most prevalent diseases worldwide. In this study, six near-complete genome sequences of SCYLV were determined to be 5775-5881 bp in length. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the two SCYLV isolates from Réunion Island, France, and four from China were clustered into REU and CUB genotypes, respectively, based on 50 genomic sequences (this study = 6, GenBank = 44).
