Cysteine and serine-rich nuclear protein 1 (CSRNP1) has shown prognostic significance in various cancers, but its role in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains elusive. We investigated CSRNP1 expression in NSCLC cases using bioinformatics tools from the GEO public repository and validated our findings through RT-qPCR in tumor and adjacent normal tissues. KEGG and GO enrichment analyses were employed to unveil the significant deregulation in signaling pathways.

Changes in bodily fluid pressures, such as pulmonary artery pressure, play key roles in high-altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE) and other disorders. Smart delivery systems releasing a drug in response to these pressures might facilitate early medical interventions. However, pressure-responsive delivery systems are unavailable.

Introduction: Apathy is a prevalent mood disturbance that occurs in a wide range of populations, including those with normal cognitive aging, mental disorders, neurodegenerative disorders and traumatic brain injuries. Recently, neuroimaging technologies have been employed to elucidate the neural substrates underlying brain disorders accompanying apathy. However, the consistent neural correlates of apathy across normal aging and brain disorders are still unclear.

Many studies have shown that ONOO abnormalities are associated with inflammatory diseases, even cancer, such as arthritis, hepatitis, pneumonia, and breast cancer. Thus, developing a trustworthy technology to monitor ONOO levels is critical in inflammatory or cancer illnesses.

Background: The tibial stop of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is fan-shaped and attached to the medial groove in front of the intercondylar spine, which is located between the anterior horn of the medial and lateral meniscus. The incidence of this fracture is low previously reported, which is common in children and adolescents. With the increase of sports injury and traffic injury and the deepening of under-standing, it is found that the incidence of the disease is high at present.

Peroxynitrite (ONOO), as an important reactive oxygen species (ROS), holds great potential to react with a variety of biologically active substances, leading to the occurrence of various diseases such as cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. In this work, we developed a novel mitochondria-localized fluorescent probe, HDBT-ONOO, which was designed as a mitochondria-targeting two-photon fluorescence probe based on 1,8-naphthylimide fluorophore and the reactive group of 4-(bromomethyl)-benzene boronic acid pinacol ester. More importantly, the probe exhibited good biocompatibility, sensitivity, and selectivity, enabling its successful application in imaging the generation of intracellular and extracellular ONOO.

CO, a gas molecule that is harmful to living organisms, has a high affinity with hemoglobin, which will cause severe hypoxia. However, in recent years, researchers have discovered that endogenous CO, similar to NO, is one of the messenger molecules, which has a certain regulatory effect in many physiological and pathological processes in the respiratory system, cardiovascular system, and nervous system. Therefore, it is urgent to explore an effective method to monitor the role of CO under physiological and pathological conditions.

Hypochlorous acid (HOCl), a highly potent oxidant of reactive oxygen species, plays critical roles in many physiological and pathological processes. In this work, a novel coumarin-based fluorescent probe, Cou-HOCl, was prepared for the detection of HOCl. The probe exhibited good selectivity over other analytes, excellent sensitivity with a detection limit of 16 nM, and fast response within 5 s.

Before the onset of motor symptoms, Parkinson's disease (PD) involves dysfunction of the anterior olfactory nucleus and olfactory bulb, causing olfactory disturbance, commonly resulting in hyposmia in the early stages of PD. Accumulating evidence has shown that blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) signals in white matter are altered by olfactory disorders and related stimuli, and the signal changes in brain white matter pathways show a certain degree of specificity, which can reflect changes of early olfactory dysfunction in Parkinson's disease. In this study, we apply the functional covariance connectivity (FCC) method to decode FCC of gray and white matter in olfactory-related brain regions in Parkinson's disease.

The dynein protein plays a key role in the degradation pathway by attaching to targeted molecules and transporting the autophagosome to the centrosome. Aging plays an important role in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD), but its effect on dynein is not clear. In this study we analyzed behavioral characteristics using the rod endurance test and climbing rod time test in different aged mice (3 months, 12 months, 20 months), and measured protein expression of dynein, α-synuclein, Tctex-1, and LC3 in the substantianigra of the mice by Western blot.

Many studies reported that spontaneous fluctuation of the blood oxygen level-dependent signal exists in multiple frequency components and changes over time. By assuming a reliable energy contrast between low- and high-frequency bands for each voxel, we developed a novel spectrum contrast mapping (SCM) method to decode brain activity at the voxel-wise level and further validated it in designed experiments. SCM consists of the following steps: first, the time course of each given voxel is subjected to fast Fourier transformation; the corresponding spectrum is divided into low- and high-frequency bands by given reference frequency points; then, the spectral energy ratio of the low- to high-frequency bands is calculated for each given voxel.

CD44 is a marker of cancer stem cell (CSC) in many types of tumors. Alternative splicing of its 20 exons generates various CD44 isoforms that have different tissue specific expression and functions, including the CD44 standard isoform (CD44s) encoded by the constant exons and the CD44 variant isoforms (CD44v) with variant exon insertions. Switching between the CD44v and CD44s isoforms plays pivotal roles in tumor progression.

BACKGROUND Most eukaryocytes release nano vesicles (30-120 nm), named exosomes, to various biological fluids such as blood, lymph, and milk. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the tumors with the highest incidence rate in primary malignant carcinoma of the liver. However, the mechanism of HCC proliferation remains elusive.

Objective: To study the expression of long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) H19 in human prostate cancer tissue and its effect on the glycometabolism and growth of human prostate cancer cells.
Methods: Realtime quantitative RTPCR (qRTPCR) was employed to detect the expression of lncRNA H19 in human prostate tissues from 20 patients with prostate cancer (10 cases of highGleason score prostate cancer [HGPC] and 10 cases of lowGleason score prostate cancer [LGPC]) and another 5 with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). After transfection of H19 siRNA into the DU145 and PC3 prostate cancer cells, the growth of the cells and the H19 expression in the cells were determined by MTT and qRTPCR respectively, and the changes in the glycometabolism of the prostate cancer cells were analyzed by measuring the contents of glucose and lactate in the culture medium.
