Platelet hyperactivity is essential for thrombus formation in coronary artery diseases (CAD). Dysfunction of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) in patients with cystic fibrosis elevates intracellular Cl levels ([Cl]) and enhanced platelet hyperactivity. In this study, we explored whether alteration of [Cl] has a pathological role in regulating platelet hyperactivity and arterial thrombosis formation.

Preeclampsia (PE) is a pregnancy-specific syndrome that causes substantial maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. Increased production of antiangiogenic factors, soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase receptor-1 (sFlt-1) and soluble endoglin (sEng), as well as decreased circulating levels of free vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), contribute to the pathophysiology of PE. Our objective was to evaluate a novel placenta-related factor, tissue transglutaminase (tTG), in PE and to investigate the correlation among tTG and sFlt-1, sEng and VEGF levels in both normotensive pregnant patients and PE patients.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical effects of the early use of recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) on the neurointelligence development in very low birth weight infants (VLBWI).
Methods: Seventy-eight VLBWI were divided into rhEPO treatment group (n=35) and control group (n=43) according to the choice of their parents. Neonatal behavioral neurological assessment (NBNA) was performed at 40 weeks of corrected gestational age.

Objective: To study the expression of aquaporin-4 (AQP4) protein in preeclampsia(PE) model rats.
Methods: Adult SD rats were divided into PE model group (n=7) induced by endotoxin, normal pregnancy group (n=6) and non-pregnancy group (n=12) treated with an equal volume of saline. AQP4 protein expression in the brain of the rats was detected with immunohistochemical staining and Western blotting.

Objective: To analyze the clinical and genetic characteristics of three children with ornithine carbamoyltransferase deficiency(OTCD), and to provide a practical method for gene diagnosis and genetic counseling of the disease.
Methods: All exons of the ornithine carbamoyltransferase (OTC) gene were screened by polymerase chain reaction-DNA direct sequencing in the three OTCD patients.
Results: One patient firstly presented as vomiting at 6 month of age.
