Aims: Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is characterized by unilateral or bilateral ventricular enlargement and reduced ventricular systolic function, with or without heart failure. In previous studies, we found that a history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or chronic bronchitis is a high risk factor for DCM combined with pulmonary hypertension (PH). Therefore, we propose that the comorbidity of COPD or chronic bronchitis will increase the cardiogenic mortality of patients with DCM.

Objective: The study investigates how cage positions in oblique lumbar interbody fusion (OLIF) combined with posterior percutaneous pedicle screw internal fixation (PPSF) affect lumbar canal and foraminal decompression and postoperative outcomes, providing guidance for optimal placement and efficacy assessment.
Methods: This investigation assesses radiologic outcomes and follow-up data in relation to cage position variability among 80 patients who underwent L4/5 single-segment OLIF + PPSF from 2018 to 2022.
Results: In the study involving 80 participants, the combination of OLIF and PPSF significantly improved lower back and leg symptoms in patients, leading to positive clinical outcomes during follow-up.
Introduction: Neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) are common non-motor symptoms among patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) and significantly impact their overall quality of life detrimentally. Several studies have reported the clinical effect of acupuncture therapy in treating NPS in PD. Therefore, the objective of this systematic review is to evaluate the potential inclusion of acupuncture therapy as an integral component of complementary treatment for PD with NPS.

The primary aim of this study was to examine the correlation between the formation of Aβ plaques and autophagy, which is regulated by β-asarone and the lncRNA BACE1-AS. Additionally, the study sought to explore potential targets of the drug in inhibiting the deposition of toxic AD-related proteins and restoring impaired mitochondrial and autophagic functions. SHY5Y cells were utilized to construct a stable Alzheimer's disease (AD) model, followed by the utilization of interference and overexpression lentiviruses targeting BACE1-AS to establish a cell model.

To compare the clinicopathologic characteristics of second primary squamous cell carcinoma (SPSCC) in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) after intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) with that after radiotherapy (RT). From 49,021 patients with NPC who treated by definitive RT, we were able to identify 15 male patients with SPSCC after IMRT, and 23 male patients with SPSCC after RT. We examined the difference between groups.

Purpose: Ginsenoside Rb1 (GRb1), a dammarane-type triterpene saponin compound mainly distributed in ginseng (Panax ginseng), has been demonstrated to ameliorate cardiovascular diseases. However, it remains unclear whether GRb1 alleviates heart failure (HF) by maintaining cardiac energy metabolism balance. Therefore, this work aimed to investigate the cardiac benefits of GRb1 against cardiac energy deficit and explore its mechanism of action.

Background: Anlotinib is used as a third-line treatment for advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), but has limited clinical benefits and several side effects, such as diarrhea and acneiform skin rash. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is commonly used to treat cancers in China. Chinese herbal medicines may have the potential as adjuvant therapies to reduce toxicity and improve the efficacy of treatments for NSCLC.

Introduction: Studies have suggested that the vaginal microbiome and gut microbiome are involved in pregnancy-related diseases, but little exploration of the link with early miscarriage or threatened miscarriage (TM) has been done. Whether the characteristics of the vaginal microbiome and gut microbiome in early pregnancy are related to TM and early pregnancy outcomes remains unclear.
Methods And Analysis: The Microbiome Characteristics in Early Threatened Miscarriage Study (MCETMS) is a prospective investigation that will recruit 326 pregnant women with early TM.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is the commonest form of primary brain tumor in the central nervous system, with median survival below 15 months and only a 25% two-year survival rate for patients. One of the major clinical challenges in treating GBM is the presence of the blood-brain barrier (BBB), which greatly limits the availability of therapeutic drugs to the tumor. Ultrasound-mediated BBB opening provides a promising approach to help deliver drugs to brain tumors.

Aims: Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is defined as a serious cardiac disorder caused by the presence of left ventricular dilatation and contractile dysfunction in the absence of severe coronary artery disease and abnormal loading conditions. The incidence of cardiac death is markedly higher in patients with DCM with pulmonary hypertension (PH) than in DCM patients without PH. No previous studies have constructed a predictive model to predict PH in patients with DCM.
