Radiotherapy is a pivotal treatment for lung cancer, significantly impacting tumor control and patient quality of life. Despite its benefits, the molecular mechanisms underlying radiotherapy-induced biological alterations in lung cancer cells remain inadequately understood. In this study, we employed a mass spectrometry-based lipidomics approach to investigate lipid profile changes in a lung cancer mouse model post-radiation.

Background: Cardiovascular, respiratory, and nervous system diseases have high morbidity and mortality rates, but the causal relationship between air pollution and these diseases remains controversial.
Methods: We conducted a large-scale genome-wide association (GWAS) study using Mendelian randomization (MR) to investigate the association between air pollution like Nitrogen dioxide (NO), Nitrogen oxides (NO), Particulate matter with diameter<2.5μm (PM), Particulate matter with diameter<10μm (PM) and cardiovascular, respiratory, and nervous system diseases, including acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia, stroke and Parkinson's disease.

Background: Organ donation after brain death (DBD) is the standard strategy for organ transplantation; however, the concept of brain death is not universally accepted due to cultural beliefs and barriers amongst billions of people worldwide. Hence, a novel donation pattern has been established in China which outlines the concept of donation after brain death followed by circulatory death (DBCD). Differently from any current donation classification, this new concept is formulated based on combination of recognizing brain death and circulatory death.

Background: Kidneys from deceased donors are being used to meet the growing need for grafts. However, delayed graft function (DGF) and acute rejection incidences are high, leading to adverse effects on graft outcomes. Optimal induction intervention should include both renal structure injury repair and immune response suppression.

Background: Using kidneys from deceased donors is an available strategy to meet the growing need of grafts. However, higher incidences of delayed graft function (DGF) and acute rejection exert adverse effects on graft outcomes. Since ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) and ongoing process of immune response to grafts are the major causes of DGF and acute rejection, the optimal induction intervention should possess capacities of both repairing renal structure injury and suppressing immune response simultaneously.

DNA and DNA-associated processes have been classes of the most important targets of chemotherapeutic drugs. As classic DNA intercalators and topoisomerase inhibitors, naphthalimides have been extensively investigated as potential anti-cancer drugs. We recently synthesized a novel series of triazolonaphthalimides with excellent anti-cancer activities.

We compared the activities of functional regions of the brain in the Deqi versus non-Deqi state, as reported by physicians and subjects during acupuncture. Twelve healthy volunteers received sham and true needling at the Waiguan (TE5) acupoint. Real-time cerebral functional MRI showed that compared with non-sensation after sham needling, true needling activated Brodmann areas 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 20, 21, 37, 39, 40, 43, and 47, the head of the caudate nucleus, the parahippocampal gyrus, thalamus and red nucleus.

Upon the background of new medical model being formed, to make measurement/evaluation with subjective indices (SIM/E) has become a new hot-spot in Western medical researches and much methodological achievements have been made, but difficulties in comprehensive evaluation and result interpretation are still encountered. SIM/E has played important guideline roles in Chinese medicine (CM) clinical practice, and since it is characterized by holism and syndrome differentiation, it showed great advantage in comprehensive evaluation and result interpretation, though further standardization is yet required. To analyze the related tools and scientific regulations of SIM/E in Western medicine, and establish the concept, domain and conceptual framework of a SIM/E system based on the CM syndrome theory should be feasible to realize the mutual compensation between advantages of the two medical sciences, and promote the progress of SIM/E.
