Objective: To evaluate the effects of the intelligent-turtle massage on the physical symptoms and immune functions in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS).

Methods: 182 cases of CFS were randomly divided into an experimental group of 91 cases treated by the intelligent-turtle massage, and a control group of 91 cases treated with the conventional massage method. After 2 courses of treatment, the therapeutic effects were statistically analyzed with the accumulated score for the improved clinical symptoms; and the changes of IgA, IgM and IgG were compared in 96 cases.

Thirty-six cases of urinary retention treated by acupuncture.

Methods: 36 cases of urinary retention were treated by acupuncture at the following points: 1) Qugu (CV 2), Zhongji (CV 3) Guanyuan (CV 4), Sanyinjiao (SP 6) and Yinlingquan (SP 9); 2) Shenshu (BL 23), Pangguangshu (BL 28), Ciliao (BL 32) and Weiyang (BL 39).

Results: 30 cases were cured, 4 cases improved and 2 cases failed, with a curative rate of 83.

Objective: To explore the mechanism of borneol in opening the blood-brain barrier (BBB).

Methods: Borneol contained serum was prepared and using Matin-Darby canine kidney epithelium (MDCKE) cell line as the in vitro BBB model to observe the effects of borneol on intercellular tight junction (ICTJ) and pinocytosis vesicles of BBB model.

Results: Borneol reduced the ICTJ and caused increase of the number and enlarged the diameter of vesicles.

Objective: To study the relationship between pathogenesis for Yin-deficiency of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and immediate prognosis as well as its neuro-endocrine mechanism.

Methods: According to the TCM standard of Syndrome Differentiation of Deficiency Syndrome, 194 patients with AMI were classified into the typical Yin-deficiency group (n = 26), the non-typical Yin-deficiency group (n = 61) and the non-Yin-deficiency group (n = 107). Their venous blood samples were collected in the morning while lying on their backs to detect plasma levels of adrenaline, noradrenaline, aldosterone, atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), corticoid and myocardial enzymes, as well as their hospitalization days and mortality in hospitalized period were calculated and compared in the three groups, with the 30 healthy persons as control.

Methods: One hundred and twenty patients with NSCLC were randomly divided into the TCM group, the western medicine (WM) group and the combined TCM and WM (TCM-WM) group. Results: Ca2+ content did not change significantly in cerebral cortex when the brain ischemia occurred for 1 hr, but it raised significantly in striatum neurocytes.
