Hepatoblastoma is a rare childhood liver cancer without known explicit etiology. Base excision repair (BER) pathway genes have been implicated in the pathophysiology of cancer, yet the role of BER pathway gene single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on hepatoblastoma risk still awaits to be explored. This study aims to determine whether hepatoblastoma risk be modulated by polymorphisms in the BER pathway genes based on genotyped data from 313 cases and 1446 controls.

Since December 2019, there has been an outbreak of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) infection in China. Two cases of neonates with positive 2019-nCoV tests have been reported. Due to the immature immune system and the possibility of vertical transmission from mother to infant, neonates have become a high-risk group susceptible to 2019-nCoV, which emphasize a close cooperation from both perinatal and neonatal pediatrics.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been highlighted to play key roles in the gene regulatory network, and the dysregulation of lncRNAs has also been implicated in various malignancies. However, little is known regarding the expression of lncRNA and their functions in the progression of nephroblastoma. Thus, the present study aimed to explore the potential role of homeobox A11 (HOXA11)-AS in nephroblastoma.

We investigated the molecular mechanisms involved in transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1)-induced myogenic stem cell differentiation to smooth muscle cells. We isolated muscle-derived stem cells (MDSCs) from gastrocnemius muscles following their identification by immunohistochemistry analysis of desmin and flow cytometry analysis of SCA-1, CD34, and CD45. MDSCs at passage 3 (PP3) were cultured to examine the effects of MDSC induction.

Accumulating evidence showed that microRNA-132 (miR-132) are involved in development and progression of several types of cancers, however, the function and underlying molecular mechanism of miR-132 in ovarian cancer remains unclear. In this study we investigated the biological roles and molecular mechanism of miR-132 in ovarian cancer. Here, we found that that the expression levels of miR-132 were dramatically decreased in ovarian cancer cell lines and clinical ovarian cancer tissue samples.
