The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of irreversible electroporation (IRE) on the uterine cervix in a rabbit model. IRE ablation was performed in the cervices of 48 New Zealand rabbits, with one ablation lesion in each animal. Gross pathology, transmission electron microscopy, hematoxylin and eosin (H&E), Masson's trichrome (MT) stain, and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) assays were performed at pre-set time points (0 h, 12 h, 1 d, 2 d, 4 d, 7 d, 14 d, and 28 d post-IRE).

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of irreversible electroporation (IRE) on the eradication of rabbit VX2 cervical tumors. A VX2 cervical cancer model was first made in 20 New Zealand rabbits. IRE ablation was performed for the cervical cancers of 15 rabbits when the diameter of the tumor was about 1.

Objectives: To evaluate the safety of irreversible electroporation (IRE) on the sciatic nerve after IRE ablation of adjacent tumor.
Methods: In this study, VX2 tumors were implanted adjacent to the sciatic nerves in 26 New Zealand white rabbits. The rabbits were divided into 3 groups 10 days after implantation, with 2 treatment groups of 10 rabbits each and a control group of 6 rabbits.

We investigated the effectiveness of adoptive transfer of KIR ligand-mismatched highly activated nature killer (HANK) cells in patients with hepatic carcinoma. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells were obtained and cultured in vitro to induce expansion and activation of HANK cells. After 12 d of culture, the cells were divided into 3 parts and infused intravenously on days 13 to 15.

Objective: The aim of this study was to establish a suitable rabbit model and select the optimal protocol for laparotomy cryoablation of pancreatic carcinoma.
Methods: VX2 tumor tissues were inoculated into rabbit pancreases to build the pancreatic carcinoma model; then, the tumor-bearing rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups: control, treatment A (the cryoablated-iceball diameter was bigger than the tumor), treatment B (iceball was as big as the tumor), and treatment C (iceball was smaller than the tumor). Related laboratory tests were conducted, and survival time was recorded.

Background And Aim: Irreversible electroporation (IRE) is a method of targeted cell ablation which has been suggested as a potential cancer therapy as it leaves structures such as blood vessels and the extracellular matrix intact, thereby allowing the rapid recovery of healthy tissue. Here, we investigated the effects of IRE on the colon in vivo in a porcine model.
Methods: IRE ablation was performed on the colon walls of 12 female Tibet mini-pigs, creating a total of 24 lesions.

Objectives: A 36-year-old Asian man was referred to our hospital with cardiac metastasis. He had a history of alveolar soft part sarcoma and initially underwent resection in 2005.
Methods: After exposing the tumor by thoracotomy, cryoablation was performed under ultrasound guidance.

We evaluated the efficacy of pre-cryosurgery and post-cryosurgery circulating tumour cells (CTCs) as biomarkers for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Real‑time qPCR was used to detect potential biomarker genes in CTCs, and magnetic-activated cell sorting (MACS) and fluorescence‑activated cell sorting (FACS) was performed on 47 patients with hepatocellular cancer who underwent cryosurgery. CTCs in the 47 patients were assessed 1 day before cryosurgery, and 7 and 30 days after cryosurgery.

In this study, we determined the number of peripheral blood circulating tumor cells (CTCs) pre- and post-cryosurgery in patients with colorectal cancer liver metastasis as a reference for understanding the relevance of any changes to the efficacy of cryosurgery. CTC numbers and CTC-related gene expression were measured in the peripheral blood of 55 patients with colorectal liver metastasis at 1 day before and 7 and 30 d after cryoablation using magnetic activated cell sorting (MACS) and fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS) combined with real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR). The number of CTCs decreased significantly with postoperative time (P < 0.

Based on the primary tumor site, liver cancer can be divided into two categories: (1) primary liver cancer and (2) metastatic cancer to the liver from a distant primary site. Guided cryoablation via many imaging methods induces iceball formation and tumor necrosisand is an attractive option for treating unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and metastatic liver cancer. There are several advantages to using cryoablation for the treatment of liver cancer: it can be performed percutaneously, intraoperatively, and laparoscopically; iceball formation can be monitored; it has little impact on nearby large blood vessels; and it induces a cryo-immunological response in situ.
