The miR-17-92 cluster and its 6 different mature microRNAs, including miR-17, miR-18a, miR-19a, miR-20a, miR-19b-1, and miR-92a, play important roles in embryo development, immune system, kidney and heart development, adipose differentiation, aging, and tumorigenicity. Currently, increasing evidence indicates that some members of miR-17-92 cluster may be critical players in spermatogenesis, including miR-17, miR-18a, and miR-20a. However, the roles and underlying mechanisms of miR-17-92 in spermatogenesis remain largely unknown.

There are conflicting reports on the correlation between serum levels of ferritin with colorectal cancer. The purpose of the present study is to clarify the association between serum ferritin with colorectal cancer using a meta-analysis approach. We searched articles indexed in Pubmed published as of July 2015 that met our predefined criteria.

A number of chemotherapy drugs can induce autophagy. This inducible autophagy is a pro-survival mechanism and contributes to the development of acquired drug resistance. Emerging evidence indicates that miRNA regulates autophagy via targeting autophagy related genes and is involved in drug resistance.

Anti-inflammation strategy is one of the proposed therapeutic approaches to hepatic fibrosis. IL-17 is critical in inflammation, but the role of IL-17 in liver fibrosis has not yet been elucidated. In this study, we investigate the role of IL-17 on bile duct ligation-induced liver injury and fibrosis in C57BL/6 mice.

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are considered to be the root cause for cancer treatment failure. Thus, there remains an urgent need for more potent and safer therapies against CSCs for curing cancer. In this study, the antitumor activity of cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cells against putative CSCs of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) was fully evaluated in vitro and in vivo.

Background And Aim: Information describing the efficacy and safety of infliximab (IFX) for Crohn's disease (CD) in China is limited. The aim of this study was to report response rates, relapse rates after IFX-induced remission, and adverse events, and identify factors associated with relapse in a cohort of CD patients treated with IFX in a Chinese center.
Patients And Methods: Clinical data of CD patients treated with two or more infusions of IFX from July 2010 to February 2013 at Nanfang Hospital (Guangzhou, China) were retrieved and analyzed retrospectively.

Background: Elevated levels of serum C-reactive protein (CRP) have been reported to have prognostic significance in lung cancer patients. This study aimed to further identify CRP-bound components as prognostic markers for lung cancer and validate their prognostic value.
Methods: CRP-bound components obtained from the serum samples from lung cancer patients or healthy controls were analyzed by differential proteomics analysis.

Previous studies have reported the association between excess body mass index (BMI) and increased risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, whether BMI is associated with the prognosis and postoperative complications of HCC is still not clear. We searched PubMed and Embase for relevant studies published until the date of August 30, 2014.

Objective: To investigate the association of gankyrin protein expression in colorectal cancer (CRC) with its prognosis.
Methods: Clinical data and resection samples of 100 colorectal cancer patients identified by pathology undergoing resection in our department from June 2008 to June 2009 were collected. The gankyrin expression in CRC tissues and matched adjacent noncancerous tissues collected during the operation of 100 CRC cases was detected by immunohistochemical staining and Western blotting.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of three single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs, rs11712066 and rs573872 near MBNL1, rs29784 near NKX2-5) with infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis (IHPS) in Chinese Han population.
Methods: A total of 47 family trios consisting of infants with IHPS and their healthy biological parents were recruited for this study. Genotypes were determined using direct sequencing.

Nur77, encoded by Nr4a1 (alias Nur77), plays roles in cell death, survival, and inflammation. To study the role of Nur77 in liver regeneration, wild-type (WT) and Nur77 knockout (KO) mice were subjected to standard two-thirds partial hepatectomy (PH). Nur77 mRNA and protein levels were markedly induced at 1 hour after PH in WT livers, coinciding with ERK1/2 activation.

Aim: Although perioperative short-term administration of steroids can attenuate surgical stress response following liver resection, there is no consensus concerning the effect on postoperative complications. This study aims to use meta-analysis to quantitatively investigate the effect of perioperative short-term administration of steroids on postoperative complications following liver resection.
Methods: A systematic published work search was performed to detect randomized controlled trials (RCT) assessing the effect of perioperative short-term administration of steroids on outcomes following liver resection.

Objective: To investigate clinical features of infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis (IHPS) in Chinese Han population.
Methods: Three hundred and sixteen hospitalized patients with IHPS from January 1998 to February 2010 were retrospectively reviewed, and data including patient's sex, onset age, other coexisting congenital defects, pyloric circular muscle thickness evaluated by ultrasonograph, serum electrolytes concentration, and results of arterial blood gas analysis on admission were collected. The patients were divided into two groups: the duration between first onset and admission less than or equal to 10 days (early onset group), and more than 10 days (late onset group).
