Mass vaccination represents a highly effective strategy for accelerating disease control while simultaneously reducing incidence and mortality rates. By developing comprehensive plans and standards for mass vaccination, it is feasible to optimize resource allocation and swiftly enhance vaccination coverage, thereby preventing, controlling, or interrupting outbreaks or epidemics of specific infectious diseases. To standardize the mass vaccination process and establish a population immunity barrier in an orderly, efficient, and safe manner, a panel of experts was convened to develop the Recommendations on Mass Vaccination.

Background: As population aging intensifies, it becomes increasingly important to elucidate the casual relationship between aging and changes in population health. Therefore, our study proposed to develop a systematic attribution framework to comprehensively evaluate the health impacts of population aging.
Methods: We used health-adjusted life expectancy (HALE) to measure quality of life and disability-adjusted life years (DALY) to quantify the burden of disease for the population of Guangzhou.

Background: As natural reservoirs of diverse pathogens, small mammals are considered a key interface for guarding public health due to their wide geographic distribution, high density and frequent interaction with humans.
Methods: All formally recorded natural occurrences of small mammals (Order: Rodentia, Eulipotyphla, Lagomorpha, and Scandentia) and their associated microbial infections in China were searched in the English and Chinese literature spanning from 1950 to 2021 and geolocated. Machine learning models were applied to determine ecological drivers for the distributions of 45 major small mammal species and two common rodent-borne diseases (RBDs), and model-predicted potential risk locations were mapped.

Background: Aflatoxin B (AFB), a potent carcinogen produced by species, is a prevalent contaminant in oil crops, with prolonged exposure associated with liver damage. Home-made peanut oil (HMPO) produced by small workshops in Guangzhou is heavily contaminated with AFB. Despite the enactment of the Small Food Workshops Management Regulations (SFWMR), no quantitative assessment has been conducted regarding its impact on food contamination and public health.

Pneumococcal disease (PD) has a serious effect on older people aged 60 years and above. However, pneumococcal vaccination rates for older people in China remain low. This study aimed to explore adult children's perspectives on the vaccination of their parents and to examine the determinants of vaccine hesitancy.

Background: Environmental noise seriously affects people's health and life quality, but there is a scarcity of noise exposure data in metropolitan cities and at nighttime, especially in developing countries.
Objective: This study aimed to assess the environmental noise level by land use regression (LUR) models and create daytime and nighttime noise maps with high-resolution of Guangzhou municipality.
Methods: A total of 100 monitoring sites were randomly selected according to population density.

Background: Although the link between fine particulate matter (PM) and influenza-like illness (ILI) is well established, the effect of the chemical constituents of PM on ILI remains unclear. This study aims to explore this effect in Guangzhou, China.
Methods: Daily data on ILI cases, PM levels, and specific PM constituents (black carbon [BC], chlorine [Cl], ammonia [NH], nitrate [NO], and sulfate [SO]) in Guangzhou, China, were collected for the period of 2014-2019.

The hematopoietic system is the primary target of benzene exposure. Whether peripheral blood miRNA can serve as sensitive biomarkers for benzene-induced hematopoietic damage has attracted considerable attention. This study focuses on exploring the role of miR-451a and miR-486-5p in benzene-induced erythroid damage and assessing their potential as biomarkers of benzene-induced hematotoxicity.

A sensitive, straightforward, and environmentally sustainable method was developed and validated for the quantification of 13 PBDEs in chicken eggs using gas chromatography coupled with triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS). The QuEChERS approach, combined with dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME), was applied for sample preparation. Egg samples were extracted with acetonitrile and purified using Z-Sep + adsorbent.

Benzene exposure has been linked to various adverse health effects. However, the effective strategy for prevention or treatment of benzene-induced hematotoxicity remains unsolved. We previously administrated hepatocyte-specific deletion of Ppp2r1a gene (encoding PP2A Aα subunit) mice with benzene via inhalation for 28 days, and found homozygote (HO) mice exhibited alleviative hematotoxicity compared with wild type (WT) mice.

Men who have sex with men represent a significant portion of new HIV diagnoses in China. Guided by the systemic transactional model and interdependence theory, we examined the mediating role of 'we-ness' between dyadic coping and HIV-specific support among Chinese serodiscordant male couples, and how cultural interdependence shapes this we-ness. We employed a mixed-methods design which included a cross-sectional survey of 234 couples and qualitative interviews with 20 couples.

Effectively capturing the risk of air pollution and informing residents is vital to public health. The widely used Air Quality Index (AQI) has been criticized for failing to accurately represent the non-threshold linear relationship between air pollution and health outcomes. Although the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) was developed to address these limitations, it lacks comprehensive construction criteria.

Our previous study has demonstrated that the decline in cardiomyocytes proliferation capacity induced by maternal androgen excess was mainly attributed to the accumulation of androsterone in the heart. However, the underlying mechanism by which androsterone inhibits cardiomyocytes proliferation remains unknown. In this study, pregnant mice were injected subcutaneously daily with dihydrotestosterone (DHT) from gestational day (GD) 16.
