Wastewater contains various organic contaminants that pose great hazards to human health and the environment. A protein/polysaccharide-derived aerogel, namely, ICMA, was developed as a high-performance adsorbent for the simultaneous and efficient removal of diverse contaminants from wastewater, including melanoidin (MLE), Congo red (CR), and diclofenac (DIC). Metal organic framework (UiO-66-NH), as a regulatory factor, significantly improved the porosity and pore volume of the ICMA to enhance the capture performance of contaminants.

Objective: To investigate the level of screen time and gross motor movement level and the correlation between them in left-behind children aged 3 to 6 years old in China.

Methods: A randomized whole-group sampling method was used to study 817 left-behind children aged 3-6 years in 15 kindergartens in Xiangcheng city, Henan province. The third version of the Test of Gross Motor Development (TGMD-3) was used to test the children's gross motor movement level, and the screen time questionnaire was used to test the children's screen time level.

Background: Waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) is considered an important summary indicator for assessing the health of children and adolescents. However, there are fewer studies addressing the association between WHtR and cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF). Deriving an optimal WHtR would play an important role in promoting CRF in children and adolescents.

Background: The chickpea pod borer (Hübner) is a significant insect pest of chickpea crops, causing substantial global losses.

Methods: Field experiments were conducted in Central Punjab, Pakistan, to investigate the impact of biotic and abiotic factors on pod borer population dynamics and infestation in nine kabuli chickpea genotypes during two cropping seasons (2020-2021 and 2021-2022). The crops were sown in November in both years, with row-to-row and plant-to-plant distances of 30 and 15 cm, respectively, following a randomized complete block design (RCBD).

High salinity effects on the depletion attraction in colloid-polymer mixtures.

J Colloid Interface Sci

February 2023

Institute for Advanced Study, Shenzhen University, Shenzhen 518060, China.

Hypothesis: Depletion attraction induced by polymers can be employed across multiple disciplines. Previous studies implied that besides screening the electrostatic repulsion between colloids, adding salt may also affect the polymers even in a nonpolar solvent. Here, we study the depletion-induced gelation of a colloid-polymer model system, focusing on the salt effects on the depletion attraction.
