Objective: To investigate the expression and prognostic value of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and fibrinogen-to-albumin ratio (FAR) in patients with locally advanced or metastatic pancreatic cancer (PC).
Methods: This retrospective study included 118 cases diagnosed with metastatic or locally advanced PC who received systemic chemotherapy at People's Hospital of Deyang City from January 2018 to February 2021. Data and blood indicators were collected from patients, and the platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), NLR, and FAR were calculated.

Aldosterone, a hormone synthesized by the adrenal cortex, plays a crucial role in regulating sodium and potassium levels in the kidneys through interaction with the mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) in the distal tubules and collecting ducts. While aldosterone aids in maintaining fluid balance by promoting sodium reabsorption and potassium secretion, elevated levels can lead to inflammation, oxidative stress, and organ damage. Experimental evidence highlights aldosterone's involvement in renal inflammation, collagen deposition, and fibrosis, often exacerbating the effects of therapies like angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) by increasing proteinuria and vascular damage.

Breast cancer has emerged as the most common cancer globally, with a significant reduction in overall survival rate after metastasis. Compared with other types of breast cancer, triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is more prone to metastasize, presenting substantial treatment challenges due to the lack of effective therapies. LGR4, which is highly expressed in breast cancer, has been shown to promote the proliferation and invasion of breast cancer cells.

Aim to provide practical clinical guidance for the treatment of implants in diabetic patients, this study investigated the corrosion mechanism of bionic coatings containing different Ca/P ratios in diabetic environments. The bionic coatings were prepared in β-titanium alloys using micro-arc oxidation (MAO) technology and evaluated for corrosion mechanism, biocompatibility, and safety by cytotoxicity, electrochemical corrosion, and coating bonding force experiments. Ca and P from the electrolyte were integrated into the coating during MAO discharge process to form hydroxyapatite.

Programmed response, carrier-free, and multimodal therapy drug delivery systems (DDS) are promising solutions to multidirectional cytotoxic effects, inefficient antitumor, and severe side effects for cancer therapy. Here, three widely used clinical drugs, interferon α1b (IFNα1b), indocyanine green (ICG), and doxorubicin (DOX), were prepared into carrier-free DDS IFNα1b-ICG-DOX (IID) by a simple one-step method without additional any reagents. IID can achieve smart and programmed DDS by combining low pH and near-infrared (NIR) light stimuli-responsive controlled release.

The Fenton reaction has attracted extensive attention due to its potential to be a highly efficient and environmentally friendly wastewater treatment technology. Noble copper-doped carbon dots (CuCDs) are prepared through a simple one-step hydrothermal method with 3,4-dihydroxyhydrocinnamic acid, 2,2'-(ethylenedioxy)bis(ethylamine) and copper chloride, endowing the Fenton reaction with enhanced catalytic activity for rhodamine B (RhB) degradation. The effects of the concentration of CuCDs, temperature, pH, oxygen (O), metal ions and polymers on the catalytic activity of CuCDs are investigated.

1,2-Dimyristoyl--3-phosphocholine (DMPC) coated on the surface of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) has advantages in neurotherapy and drug delivery. In this study, the surface of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)-SPIONs was modified with DMPC, then PVP-SPIONs and DMPC/PVP-SPIONs were co-incubated with rat adrenal pheochromocytoma (PC-12) cells to observe the effect of DMPC on the distribution of SPIONs in cells, and further PVP-SPIONs and DMPC/PVP-SPIONs were implanted into the substantia nigra of Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats by stereotaxic injection, and the brain tissues were removed at both twenty-four hours and seven days after injection. The distribution and transport of nanoparticles in the substantia nigra were explored in these different time periods.
