Background: The incidence of oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) mediated by human papilloma virus (HPV) has been steadily increasing worldwide. The specific pathogenesis of HPV-mediated head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) usually induces carcinogenesis in the oropharynx and the roles of CK7, CK19 and p16 in the carcinogenesis mechanism of HPV-mediated OPSCC still remain uncertain.

Methods: We collected case data and paraffin samples of 69 cases of OPSCC and 40 cases of OSCC from July 2009 to December 2021.

Ectopic eruption of the second permanent molar is a tooth replacement disorder during adolescence. If not treated in time, it can cause hard tissue of the adjacent first molar resorption, early tooth loss, decreased chewing efficiency, and other serious malocclusions. Timely detection and treatment of ectopic eruption of the second permanent molar are of great significance in preventing malocclusions in adolescents and establishing normal occlusion relationships.

Background: Thermage is a monopolar radiofrequency (RF). It has become an indispensable part of facial and body youthful methods. Although the current device is constantly improving in epidermal cooling techniques and even automatically measures the local impedance value, applying surface anesthesia can take some of the pain away caused by thermage, and the patient's severe pain in the jaw and neck areas is still difficult to resolve.

Department of Nuclear Medicine, China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University, NHC Key Laboratory of Radiobiology, School of Public Health of Jilin University, Changchun, 130033, People's Republic of China.

Introduction: Combination therapy is a promising approach to promote the efficacy and reduce the systemic toxicity of cancer therapy. Herein, we examined the potency of a combined chemo-phototherapy approach by constructing a hyaluronidase- and reactive oxygen species-responsive hyaluronic acid nanoparticle carrying a chemotherapy drug and a photosensitizer in a tumor-bearing mouse model. We hypothesized that following decomposition, the drugs inside the nanocomplex will be released in the tumors to provide effective tumor treatment.

Objectives: The histological origin of base of the tongue (BOT) carcinomas is still elusive, and most studies have been focusing on the lingual tonsil. In this study, we sought to identify the existence of the squamous-columnar junction (SCJ) in the human Von Ebner's glandular duct and explored the potential of that in forming squamous cell carcinomas in BOT.

Materials And Methods: The specific genomes of BOT carcinoma were acquired and screened out by The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database analysis.

Excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) are one of the leading mechanisms in the initiation and development of osteoarthritis (OA). However, conventional injection of ROS-responsive drug delivery systems (DDSs) such as nanoparticles and hydrogels usually cannot provide effective treatment due to rapid clearance and degradation or low bioavailability. In this study, a ROS-responsive nanofiber membrane named PLA/PEGDA-EDT@rGO-Fucoxanthin (PPGF) is fabricated by electrospinning, wherein PEGDA-EDT served as the ROS-responsive motif, reduced graphene oxide (rGO) as the drug carrier and fucoxanthin (Fx) as the antioxidative and anti-inflammatory agent.

Sagittal split ramus osteotomy (SSRO) is a versatile orthognathic procedure for correcting mandibular deformities. Various complications can possibly occur when performing SSRO, and it can even cause serious adverse consequences because of the complexity of anatomy and operative procedures. The types of complications and their accompanying clinical manifestations are closely related to the choice of diagnosis and treatment strategies and clinical outcomes.

This study was designed to identify a messenger RNA (mRNA) expression signature to predict survival in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). mRNA expression profiles were integrated with clinical data from 280 samples, including 19 normal tissues and 261 OSCC tissues in The Cancer Genome Atlas. We identified differentially expressed mRNAs (DEmRNAs) between the OSCC and normal tissue samples and developed a novel mRNA-focused expression signature using a Cox regression analysis and other bioinformatic methods.

Background: MicroRNAs (miRs) have been shown to play an important role in tumorigenesis, including in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). The miR-34 family is thought to play a role in tumor suppression, but the exact mechanism of their action in HNSCC is not well understood. Moreover, the impact of chromosomal changes and mutation status on miR-34a expression remains unknown.

Currently the radial forearm fasciocutaneous flap and the anterolateral thigh flap are among the most popular free flaps used for reconstruction of oral soft tissue. However, there is controversy about their efficacy after reconstruction of tongue defects because of their respective intrinsic properties, so we have compared them in reconstruction of tongue defects using meta-analysis. We conducted a search in Pubmed, EMBASE, OVID, Science Direct, the Cochrane Library, and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, which covered all papers published before January 2015.
