Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Viburnum taitoense Hayata has been used as folk medicine by the minority people in Southwestern China for a long history, especially in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The minority in Guangxi including Zhuang, Miao and Yao people use the ethanol extract of V. taitoense Hayata to treat the fracture, kill the pain of rheumatism because of its definite therapeutic effects.

[Study advance of depressive animal models and its application in traditional Chinese medicines].

Depression is a kind of mental disease with main symptoms of low mood and lack of pleasure, which seriously endangers human health. An appropriate depressive animal model is of great significance for the study of depression and new antidepressant drugs, while the suitable selection and matching of experimental animals, modeling methods and evaluation indexes are critical to eva-luate the scientificity and effectiveness of the depressive animal model. The study advance of depressive animal models in the aspects of experimental animal selection, modeling principle and method, characteristics, evaluation indexes and their application in traditional Chinese medicine are summarized through the systematic review of relevant literatures in PubMed, CNKI and other databases.

Hepatotoxicity and mechanism study of chrysophanol-8-O-glucoside in vitro.

To better understand the hepatotoxicity of anthraquinone glycosides, the hepatotoxicity of six anthraquinone glycosides was evaluated. The results show that chrysophanol-8-O-glucoside(C8G) has strong hepatotoxicity and can lead to increased LDH leakage and ROS, decreased GSH and MMP in L-02 hepatocytes. The results of C8G hepatotoxicity proteomics shows that, a total of 773 differentially expressed proteins were screened and analyzed using GO analysis and Pathway enrichment analysis.

Gut microbiota: a new angle for traditional herbal medicine research.

Traditional Herbal Medicine (THM) has been used for thousands of years, and is popular worldwide due to its effectiveness in a variety of diseases. THM has also formed the basis of the discovery of modern drugs like artemisinin and paclitaxel. However, at present, studies that focus on development in the field of THM are stagnant because currently, the effective ingredients in the herbal formulations and the ambiguity of the underlying mechanisms of action are unknown.

Objective: To investigate the antidepressant-like effect of active fraction of Polyrhachis vicina Roger (AFPR) in a rat depression model, and to elucidate the underlying mechanism.

Methods: AFPR was extracted with ethanol followed by petroleum ether. Its antidepressant-like effect was investigated in mice by tail suspension test (TST), forced swimming test (FST) and open field test (OPT).

In this study, we examined whether hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) plays a detoxification role in withdrawal symptoms in a morphine-dependent rat model. The model was established through injections of morphine at increasing doses for 7 days. Withdrawal symptoms were induced by naloxone injection on the 8th day.

[DNA barcoding identification of endangered medicinal plants of Orchidaceae].

In this study, DNA barcoding was used to validate the traditional morphological classification of medicinal plants of Orchidaceae. The 163 samples of 135 species belong to 49 genera which have been confirmed by morphological identification were collected. Candidate sequences, including matK, psbA-trnH and ITS2 sequences, were amplified, bidirectionally sequenced, and assembled.

Premise Of The Study: Microsatellite markers were developed for (Clusiaceae), an endangered and endemic tree species of karst habitats, to analyze its genetic diversity and genetic structure.

Methods And Results: Using shotgun sequencing on an Illumina MiSeq platform, a total of 22 microsatellite primer sets were characterized, of which 17 were identified as polymorphic. For these polymorphic loci, the total number of alleles per locus ranged from two to 12 across 54 individuals from three populations.
