Diagnosis of seronegative rheumatoid arthritis (SNRA) is difficult due to the lack of diagnostic markers. The study aims to construct a novel diagnostic model based on long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) expression and laboratory indicators to provide a new idea for diagnostic methods of SNRA. Differentially expressed lncRNAs in peripheral blood cells of RA patients were screened through eukaryotic long noncoding RNA sequencing and validated by quantitative real-time PCR.

Background: The dosage of ovalbumin (OVA) during the sensitization stage is considered a crucial factor in the development of airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR). However, the inconsistent dosages of sensitizing OVA used in current studies and the lack of research on their impact on AHR are notable limitations.

Methods: We examined the impact of increasing sensitizing doses of OVA in a murine asthma model, which entailed initial sensitization with OVA followed by repeated exposure to OVA aerosols.

State Key Laboratory of High Performance Ceramics and Superfine Microstructures, Shanghai Institute of Ceramics Chinese Academy of Sciences, Research Unit of Nanocatalytic Medicine in Specific Therapy for Serious Disease, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Shanghai, 200050, P. R. China.

Relieving inflammation via scavenging toxic reactive oxygen species (ROS) during the acute phase of spinal cord injury (SCI) proves to be an effective strategy to mitigate secondary spinal cord injury and improve recovery of motor function. However, commonly used corticosteroid anti-inflammatory drugs show adverse side effects which may induce increased risk of wound infection. Fortunately, hydrogen (H), featuring selective antioxidant performance, easy penetrability, and excellent biosafety, is being extensively investigated as a potential anti-inflammatory therapeutic gas for the treatment of SCI.

Synovial microenvironment-influenced mast cells promote the progression of rheumatoid arthritis.

Nat Commun

January 2024

Department of Immunology and Microbiology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai Institute of Immunology, Shanghai, China.

Mast cells are phenotypically and functionally heterogeneous, and their state is possibly controlled by local microenvironment. Therefore, specific analyses are needed to understand whether mast cells function as powerful participants or dispensable bystanders in specific diseases. Here, we show that degranulation of mast cells in inflammatory synovial tissues of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is induced via MAS-related G protein-coupled receptor X2 (MRGPRX2), and the expression of MHC class II and costimulatory molecules on mast cells are upregulated.
