Agarwood is resin-containing wood produced by plants that have been injured. It is widely used in herbal medicine, incense, decorative items, and so on. In this study, we conducted resin area statistical analysis, determined starch particle and reducing sugar contents, and performed multivariate statistical analysis of chemical composition by GC-MS and UPLC-Q-TOF-MS to explore the different components in sections cut from an agarwood column, designated as A1-A4.

Systematic investigation of TetR-family transcriptional regulators and their roles on lignocellulosic inhibitor acetate tolerance in .

Front Bioeng Biotechnol

March 2024

State Key Laboratory of Biocatalysis and Enzyme Engineering, and School of Life Sciences, Hubei University, Wuhan, China.

TetR-family transcriptional regulators are widely distributed among bacteria and involved in various cellular processes such as multidrug and inhibitor resistance. is a industrial bacterium for lignocellulosic ethanol production. Although TetR-family regulators and their associated RND-family efflux pumps in have been identified to be differentially expressed under various inhibitors and stressful conditions, there are no systematic investigation yet.

Electrochemical properties and facile preparation of hollow porous VO microspheres for lithium-ion batteries.

J Colloid Interface Sci

May 2023

College of Chemistry and Materials Science, Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Functional Supramolecular Coordination Materials and Applications, Guangdong Engineering & Technology Research Centre of Graphene-Like Materials and Products, Jinan University, Guangzhou 510632, China. Electronic address:

Vanadium pentoxide (VO) has shown great potential to be used in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), but it has limited applications because it has cycle instability and poor rate capability, and its lithiation mechanism is not well understood. In this work, hollow porous VO microspheres (HPVOM) were obtained by a facile poly(vinylpyrrolidone) and ethylene glycol-assisted soft-template solvothermal method. Half cells with HPVOM exhibited good capacity, rate capability, and stability, delivering 407.

"Chachi" (CRC) leaves contain abundant flavonoids, indicating that they possess good nutritional/pharmacological research and development potential. This study aims to explore chemical antioxidant quality markers based on the spectrum-effect relationship and quality control strategy of CRC leaves. The ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) system was used to establish chromatographic fingerprints of "Chachi" leaves.

Correlation between Inflorescence Architecture and Floral Asymmetry-Evidence from Aberrant Flowers in L. (Cannaceae).

Plants (Basel)

September 2022

Key Laboratory of Plant Resources Conservation and Sustainable Utilization, South China Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guangzhou 510650, China.

Floral symmetry studies often focus on the development of monosymmetric and polysymmetric flowers, whereas asymmetric flowers and their position and function within the inflorescence structure are largely neglected. Cannaceae is one of the few families that possesses truly asymmetric flowers, serving as a model to study the characters and mechanisms involved in the development of floral asymmetry and its context within the developing and mature inflorescence. In this study, inflorescence structure and floral morphology of normal asymmetric flowers and 16 aberrant flower collections from L.

Article Synopsis
  • Edible bird's nest (EBN) is a sought-after delicacy in the Asia-Pacific, especially from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, and carries potential medicinal value in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
  • This research focuses on evaluating different methods for extracting EBN DNA in Thailand, highlighting the guanidinium isothiocyanate method as the most effective for analyzing specific gene sequences.
  • The study also developed a quick identification method using amplification-refractory mutation system PCR (ARMS-PCR), successfully distinguishing between different EBN species based on their genetic profiles.
