This study aimed to investigate the tissue-specific accumulation patterns of arsenic (As) and the potential toxicological effects of As on the oviposition of a globally distributed aquatic invertebrate, the apple snail (Pomacea canaliculata). An eight-compartment physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model was utilized to simulate the distribution and depuration kinetics of arsenite and arsenate in the snails. Modeling and biotransformation suggested that intestine-stomach was the main uptake site for As and plays an important role in maintaining the balance of As species.

Hybridized local and charge-transfer (HLCT) emitters have attracted extensive attention, but the insolubility and severe self-aggregation tendency restrict their applications in solution-processable organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), particularly deep-blue OLEDs. Herein, two novel benzoxazole-based solution-processable HLCT emitters (BPCP and BPCPCHY) are designed and synthesized, in which benzoxazole acts as an acceptor, carbazole acts as a donor, and hexahydrophthalimido (HP, with a large intramolecular torsion angle and spatial distortion characteristics) acts as a bulky modified end-group with weak electron-withdrawing effects. Both BPCP and BPCPCHY exhibit HLCT characteristics and emit near ultraviolet in toluene at 404 and 399 nm.

In this study, an electrochemical etching method were proposed to manufacture high-density graphene edges on the surface of N-doped graphene sheets embedded carbon (N-GSEC) films for sensing aminophenol. We found that the sp-hybridized carbon and nitrogen atoms were more susceptible to be etched than the sp-hybridized atoms, resulting in the decrease of amorphous and the formation of more graphene edges. These graphene edges with higher electronic density of states can be served as electrochemical active sites and accelerate the electron transfer rate.

Experiments in a tubular furnace reactor and thermodynamic equilibrium calculations were conducted to investigate the impact of sulfur compounds on the migration of lead (Pb) during sludge incineration. Representative samples of typical sludge with and without the addition of sulfur compounds were combusted at 850 °C, and the partitioning of Pb in the solid phase (bottom ash) and gas phase (fly ash and flue gas) was quantified. The results indicate that three types of sulfur compounds (S, Na2S and Na2SO4) added to the sludge could facilitate the volatilization of Pb in the gas phase (fly ash and flue gas) into metal sulfates displacing its sulfides and some of its oxides.
