Facilitated transport membranes (FTMs) with an ultraselective layer prepared from amine-rich polyvinylamine (PVAm)/2-(1-piperazinyl)ethylamine salt of sarcosine (PZEA-Sar) (denoted by PM) and an amorphous dendritic cross-linked network of PVAm-functionalized poly(ethylene glycol)diglycidyl ether (PEGDGE) (named PP) were designed for CO separations. The developed membranes expedited CO transport over N through the synergistic effect from the induced CO-philic ethylene oxide groups and highly hydrophilic and polar hydroxyl groups together with the low-crystallinity PP networks, which offer a high diffusion rate for CO-amine complexes through the membrane and stabilize small molecular mobile carriers via hydrogen bonding. Cyanine dye-containing nanoparticles have widely been used in "all-in-one" NIR fluorescence imaging (FI)-guided photothermal therapy (PTT) because of their intrinsically large extinction coefficient and available physical and chemical modulation methods to tune absorption and emission wavelengths. The combination of good brightness and excellent tumor-targeting capacity is the key to realize efficient NIR-II FI-guided PTT. In this study, by covalently decorating NIR-II absorptive cyanine dyes with bulky AIE motify, we demonstrate how steric hindrance suppresses π-π stacking-induced fluorescence quenching and contributes to the good brightness of NIR-II FI of subcutaneous glioblastoma.

Through the stacking technique of 2D materials, the interfacial polarization can be switched by an interlayer sliding, known as sliding ferroelectricity, which is advantageous in ultra-thin thickness, high switching speed, and high fatigue resistance. However, uncovering the relationship between the sliding path and the polarization state in rhombohedral-stacked materials remains a challenge, which is the key to 2D sliding ferroelectricity. Here, layer-dependent multidirectional sliding ferroelectricity in rhombohedral-stacked InSe (γ-InSe) is reported via dual-frequency resonance tracking piezoresponse force microscopy and conductive atomic force microscopy.

Photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensing, recognized for its heightened sensitivity, faces limitations in its application for diagnosis due to the inefficiency of UV-visible light-driven photoactive materials in nontransparent biological samples. In this study, we investigate the potential of an S-scheme all-polymer heterojunction comprising a prototype nonfullerene polymeric acceptor (PYIT) and carbon nitride to develop a near-infrared (NIR) light-driven PEC biosensor for monitoring acetylcholinesterase activity in nontransparent human whole blood. The distinct molecular structure of PYIT enables efficient light absorption in the NIR region, enhancing sensitivity in nontransparent biological samples.

This review article presents a detailed examination of the integral role that electrochemical detection of extracellular vesicles (EVs) plays, particularly focusing on the potential application for early disease diagnostics through EVs biomarker analysis. Through an exploration of the benefits and challenges presented by electrochemical detection vetted for protein, lipid, and nucleic acid biomarker analysis, we underscore the significance of these techniques. Evidence from recent studies renders this detection modality imperative in identifying diverse biomarkers from EVs, leading to early diagnosis of diseases such as cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.

Background: Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death globally for people aged 5-29 years, with 90% of mortality occurring in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The STABLE (Slashing Two-wheeled Accidents by Leveraging Eyecare) trial was designed to determine whether providing spectacles could reduce risk among young myopic motorcycle users in Vietnam.
Methods: This investigator-masked, stepped-wedge, cluster randomised naturalistic driving trial will recruit 625 students aged 18-23 years, driving ≥ 50 km/week, with ≥ 1-year driving experience and using motorcycles as their primary means of transport, in 25 clusters of 25 students in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Taking charge behavior of civil servants is important for enhancing the transformative capacity and governance efficacy of the public sector. This study is based on the conservation of resources theory and the job demands-resources model to explore the impact of hierarchical plateau on taking charge behavior of civil servants, including the mediating role of work engagement and the moderating effect of trait mindfulness. Through the analysis of a sample of 286 civil servants in Guangdong Province, China, the results show that hierarchical plateau has a negative effect on taking charge behavior of civil servants, with work engagement partially mediating the relationship between hierarchical plateau and taking charge behavior; trait mindfulness can alleviate the negative relationship between hierarchical plateau and work engagement.

Van Hove singularity (vHs), the singularity point of density of states (DOS) in crystalline solids, is a research hotspot in emerging phenomena such as light-matter interaction, superconducting, and quantum anomalous Hall effect. Although the significance of vHs in photothermoelectric (PTE) effect has been recognized, its integral role in electron excitation and thermoelectric effect is still unclear, particularly in the mid-infrared band that suffers from Pauli blockade in semimetals. The enhancement of catalytic activity can be achieved by removing non-active components from the surface of catalyst materials, thereby increasing the accessibility of active sites. In this study, an electrically driven method is described for the removal of non-active phosphorus (P) to optimize the surface composition of iron-nickel phosphide (denoted as P-O-NFF), resulting in the exposure of more active Fe-Ni sites for oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The optimized P-O-NFF electrode exhibits exceptional OER catalytic activity, with an overpotential of 217 mV at 10 mA cm.
