Salivary proteins serve multifaceted roles in maintaining oral health and hold significant potential for diagnosing and monitoring diseases due to the non-invasive nature of saliva sampling. However, the clinical utility of current saliva biomarker studies is limited by the lack of reference intervals (RIs) to correctly interpret the testing result. Here, we developed a rapid and robust saliva proteome profiling workflow, obtaining coverage of >1,200 proteins from a 50-µL unstimulated salivary flow with 30 min gradients.

Catalytic asymmetric transformation of donor-acceptor cyclopropanes (DACs) has been proven to be a highly valuable and robust strategy to construct diverse types of enantioenriched molecules. However, the use of 1,1,2,2-tetrasubstituted DACs to form products bearing quaternary stereocenters remains a long-term unsolved challenge. Here, we report the copper-catalyzed asymmetric aminative ring opening of tetrasubstituted alkynyl DACs that delivers a myriad of α-tertiary amines with high levels of enantioselectivities.

Endoscopy-assisted vitrectomy for severe ocular penetrating trauma with corneal opacity.

Aim: To assess the utility and efficiency of endoscopy-assisted vitrectomy (EAV) for the treatment of corneal opacity in severe ocular trauma.

Methods: Patients who underwent fundus examination using a preoperative slit lamp and intraoperative endoscopy, followed by EAV and additional surgery were retrospectively recruited. Silicone oil removal and penetrating keratoplasty were used in selected eyes at postoperative follow-ups.

ALK + anaplastic large cell lymphoma involving the bladder: case report and review of the literature.

We reported a case of anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)-positive anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALK + ALCL) involving the bladder. The patient was a 27-year-old female, whose main clinical symptoms included fever, painless lymphadenopathy, and hematuria. Imaging studies suggested a bladder mass.

This is a retrospective multi-center case series study. Data were retrospectively collected from 127 patients with coronary artery disease with moderate to severe or severe IMR who received TACR with C-MVR from July 2015 to April 2024 in 13 hospitals in China.

Carboplatin combined with arsenic trioxide versus carboplatin combined with docetaxel treatment for LACC: A randomized, open-label, phase II clinical study.

Purpose: This study compared the efficacy and safety of carboplatin combined with arsenic trioxide versus carboplatin combined with docetaxel in treating locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC).

Methods: A total of 48 patients were enrolled between January 2019 and December 2022 and randomly assigned to the experimental group (carboplatin + arsenic trioxide, = 24) or control group (carboplatin + docetaxel, = 24). The clinical efficacy, adverse reactions, and serological markers were analyzed.

Background: The optimal hypothermic circulatory arrest (HCA) temperature during total arch replacement (TAR) and the impact of HCA temperature on postoperative neurological complications are still uncertain.

Objective: The aim of this study is to explore the impact of HCA temperature on short-term postoperative outcomes, especially neurological complications, for patients who undergo TAR.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data of 2351 patients who underwent TAR at one of seven selected aortic centers from January 2016 to June 2023.

To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of the Guanxinshutong capsule (GXST) combined with Western medicine (WM) in treating stable angina pectoris (SAP). Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating the efficacy of GXST combined with WM for the treatment of patients with SAP were searched across several databases, including the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Embase, the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), the Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP), and Wan Fang, from inception until 30 April 2024. Two independent reviewers rigorously performed study selection, data extraction, and quality assessment.

Efficacy and safety of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine for rheumatoid arthritis-interstitial lung disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objective: To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine(TCM-WM) for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis-associated interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD).

Materials And Methods: An independent search of electronic databases (PubMed, Excerpta Medica Database, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, OVID Medline, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, WanFang Data, VIP Data databases, and China Biology Medicine disc) from inception to June 25, 2024 was performed to identify studies treating RA-ILD that used combined Chinese and Western medicine treatment compared to Western medicine. Two researchers independently audited each article, and the quality was assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias Assessment Tool 2 and the modified Jadad.

[Efficacy and safety of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization followed by hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy combined with TKI and PD-1 inhibitors as first-line treatment for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma].

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) followed by hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) combined with TKI drugs and PD-1 inhibitors as the first-line treatment for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data of 70 patients with advanced HCC treated in the Department of Oncology of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine between July, 2020 and June, 2023. 23 of the patients received TACE combined with HAIC and TKI (TACE+HAIC+ TKI group) and 47 received TACE combined with HAIC, PD-1 inhibitors and TKI (TACE+HAIC+PD-1+TKI group).

Impact of the nail insertion angle on the wedge effect in intramedullary nail fixation of intertrochanteric hip fractures.

Background: The wedge effect is known to be influenced by the insertion of the proximal femoral intramedullary nail through the fracture line and the large proximal diameter of the nail. However, the impact of the nail insertion angle (NIA) on the wedge effect remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate: (1) how to evaluate the NIA intraoperatively, (2) whether the NIA is associated with the wedge effect, (3) whether the NIA can serve as a reliable predictor of the wedge effect, (4) which factors affect the NIA, and (5) which surgical techniques can prevent the occurrence of the wedge effect associated with the NIA.
