Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Wuda Granule (WDG) on recovery of gastrointestinal function after laparoscopic bowel resection in the setting of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS)-based perioperative care.
Methods: A total of 108 patients aged 18 years or older undergoing laparoscopic bowel resection with a surgical duration of 2 to 4.5 h were randomly assigned (1:1) to receive either WDG or placebo (10 g/bag) twice a day from postoperative days 1-3, combining with ERAS-based perioperative care.

Skull defect repair is a complex and critical medical challenge, and there is an urgent need to develop multifunctional tissue engineering scaffolds for skull regeneration. The success of bone tissue engineering depends on the construction of scaffolds that can regulate the immune microenvironment of bone regeneration and mimic the liquid crystal and viscoelastic properties of natural bone extracellular matrix. Hence, a smart hydrogel (PEGDA5/AM15/CLC-BMP-4@MBG) with good biocompatibility and the ability to modulate the wound immune microenvironment has been developed for the repair of skull defects.

Follicular atresia triad, also known as paradoxical acne (FOT), is a rare and serious clinical syndrome in dermatology, mainly manifested by coalescing acne, purulent perifolliculitis of the head, and suppurative sweating inflammation, and FOT combined with necrotising fasciitis of the lower limbs and squamous cell carcinoma is rare both at home and abroad. In this article, we share the clinical data and treatment of a patient with follicular atresia triad and necrotising fasciitis and squamous cell carcinoma of the left lower limb for your reference.

Background: The wedge effect is known to be influenced by the insertion of the proximal femoral intramedullary nail through the fracture line and the large proximal diameter of the nail. However, the impact of the nail insertion angle (NIA) on the wedge effect remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate: (1) how to evaluate the NIA intraoperatively, (2) whether the NIA is associated with the wedge effect, (3) whether the NIA can serve as a reliable predictor of the wedge effect, (4) which factors affect the NIA, and (5) which surgical techniques can prevent the occurrence of the wedge effect associated with the NIA.

Berberine (BBR) is a major active component of traditional Chinese medicine Rhizoma Coptidis and Cortex Phellodendri, which have been frequently used to treat liver diseases. Oxidative stress and inflammation are two pivotal hepatic pathological hallmarks. This study aimed to explore the potential effect and underlying mechanism of BBR on fructose-induced rat liver injury model, and hepatocyte damage in HepG2 and BRL-3A cells.

Hepatitis B, often leading to Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), poses a major global health challenge. While Tenofovir (TDF) and Entecavir (ETV) are potent treatments, their comparative effectiveness in improving recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) rates in HBV-related HCC is not well-established. We conducted an individual patient data meta-analysis using survival data from randomized trials and high-quality propensity score-matched studies to compare the impact of Tenofovir (TDF) and Entecavir (ETV) on RFS and OS in HBV-related HCC patients.

Sepsis is a prevalent critical illness observed in emergency intensive care unit (ICU), characterized by life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by infection-induced inflammatory immune disorders in the body. The suppression of immune function plays a crucial role in the development and progression of sepsis. Traditional Chinese medicine theory of "acute deficiency syndrome" in sepsis shares similarities with the concept of "immunosuppression".

Aims: The aim of this study was to develop a simple, fast and efficient clinical diagnostic model, composed of exercise stress echocardiography (ESE) indicators, of the exercise capacity of patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) by comparing the effectiveness of different classifiers.
Methods And Results: Eighty patients with CHF (aged 60 ± 11 years; 78% male) were prospectively enrolled in this study. All patients underwent both cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) and ESE and were divided into two groups according to the VE/VCO slope: 30 patients with VE/VCO slope ventilation classification (VC)1 (i.

Objectives: To determine the diagnostic efficiencies of multiple diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) techniques for hepatic fibrosis (HF) staging under the premise of high inter-examiner reliability.
Methods: Participants with biopsy-confirmed HF were recruited and divided into the early HF (EHF) and advanced HF (AHF) groups; healthy volunteers (HVs) served as controls. Two examiners analyzed intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) using the IVIM-DWI and diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) models.

Given the global prevalence of myocardial infarction (MI) as the leading cause of mortality, there is an urgent need to devise novel strategies that target reducing infarct size, accelerating cardiac tissue repair, and preventing detrimental left ventricular (LV) remodeling. Macrophages, as a predominant type of innate immune cells, undergo metabolic reprogramming following MI, resulting in alterations in function and phenotype that significantly impact the progression of MI size and LV remodeling. This article aimed to delineate the characteristics of macrophage metabolites during reprogramming in MI and elucidate their targets and functions in cardioprotection.

Despite strides in deciphering its pathophysiological landscape, the intricate molecular underpinnings of asthma remain elusive. The focus has increasingly shifted toward the metabolic aberrations accompanying asthma, particularly within the domain of pyrimidine metabolism (PyM)-a critical pathway in nucleotide synthesis and degradation.

Background: This study aims to investigate the feasibility and value of modular splenic hilar lymphadenectomy (MSHL) in LTG for advanced PGC located at the greater curvature.
Study Design: A retrospective-controlled research included 54 patients diagnosed with advanced PGC located at the greater curvature who underwent LTG combined with spleen-preserving hilar lymphadenectomy between January 2020 and December 2022 at the same treatment center. A total of 20 patients underwent classic splenic hilar lymphadenectomy (CSHL) using a medial approach (classic group), while 34 patients underwent MSHL (modular group).

Myocardial remodeling (MR) following myocardial infarction (MI) contributes to heart failure. Inflammation is a key determinant in cardiac remodeling, with potential prognostic improvements by inhibiting inflammatory factors. Pattern recognition receptors, including interferon gamma-inducible protein-16 (IFI-16), play significant roles in this process, yet its specific involvement remains underexplored.

Background: This study aimed to explore the relationship between flavonoids intake and the prevalence and all-cause mortality of depressive symptoms in American adults.
Methods: Analyzing 2007-2008, 2009-2010, and 2017-2018 NHANES data, we examined the association between dietary flavonoid and depressive symptoms, including specific subclasses assessment and mortality outcomes tracking until December 31, 2019. Our methodology included weighted multivariate logistic regression, weighted cox proportional hazards regression and restricted cubic spline (RCS) models, supported by stratified and sensitivity analyses.
