School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Southern Medical University, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China.

Manual therapy (MT) has been widely used in China to treat local tissue inflammation for a long time. However, there is a lack of scientific evidence for using MT in anti-inflammatory therapy, and its anti-inflammatory mechanism needs further clarification. We utilized MT to treat cardiotoxin (CTX) injury-induced skeletal muscle inflammation in C57BL6/J mice.

Autophagy plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis and progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Oxidative stress and neuroinflammation involved in autophagy are associated with the cerebral ischemia-induced exacerbation of cognitive deficits in individuals with AD. APP/PS1 mice underwent bilateral common carotid artery clamping for 15 min.

  • Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is a common and serious type of lung cancer, making up about 50% of lung cancer cases, with poor patient outcomes despite advancements in treatment.
  • This study focused on a specific type of cell death called necroptosis and how a signature of long non-coding RNAs (NecroLncSig) could help predict how well LUAD patients respond to immunotherapy.
  • The researchers identified seven key necro-related lncRNAs, which allowed them to categorize patients into high-risk and low-risk groups, revealing that higher risk was linked to significantly worse overall survival in patients.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has become a common health care burden worldwide. The high heterogeneity of NAFLD remains elusive and impairs outcomes of clinical diagnosis and pharmacotherapy. Several NAFLD classifications have been proposed on the basis of clinical, genetic, alcoholic, or serum metabolic analyses.

Atherosclerosis (AS) is a chronic vascular disease primarily affecting large and medium-sized arteries and involves various complex pathological mechanisms and factors. Previous studies have demonstrated a close association between atherosclerosis and inflammatory damage, metabolic disorders, and gut microbiota. It is also closely linked to several cellular processes, such as endothelial cell pyroptosis, ferroptosis, mitophagy, mitochondrial dynamics, and mitochondrial biogenesis.

Department of Laboratory Medicine, The Affiliated Hospital of Yangzhou University, Yangzhou University, Yangzhou, Jiangsu, China.

Background: Immune-related adverse events (irAEs) pose substantial challenges in the realm of cancer immunotherapy, frequently affecting treatment efficacy and patient safety. To address the urgent need for identifying risk factors associated with irAEs, we conducted a comprehensive phenotype-wide Mendelian randomization analysis (MR-PheWAS).

Methods: Utilizing publicly accessible genome-wide association study (GWAS) data, this investigation evaluated the impact of over 5000 exposure variables on susceptibility to irAEs using univariate Mendelian randomization (MR).

Cell Death Differ

October 2024

State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China, Guangdong Provincial Clinical Research Center for Cancer, Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, Guangzhou, PR China.

Oxaliplatin-based therapeutics is a widely used treatment approach for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients; however, drug resistance poses a significant clinical challenge. Epigenetic modifications have been implicated in the development of drug resistance. In our study, employing siRNA library screening, we identified that silencing the mA writer METTL3 significantly enhanced the sensitivity to oxaliplatin in both in vivo and in vitro HCC models.
