Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) technology has attracted more and more attention due to its high sensitivity, low water interference, and quick measurement. Constructing high-performance SERS substrates with high sensitivity, uniformity and reproducibility is of great importance to put the SERS technology into practical application. In this paper, we report a simple fabrication process to construct dense silver-coated PMMA nanoparticles-on-a-mirror SRES substrates.

Medium- and long-chain triacylglycerols (MLCTs) are regarded as healthy premium oils; however, the health benefits of novel MLCTs enriched with lauric and α-linolenic acids are still not fully understood. This study examined the health benefits of lauric-α-linolenic structural lipids (ALSL) and physical mixture (PM) with a similar fatty acid composition in mice with obesity induced by the high-fat diet (HFD). The data indicated that ALSL is more effective than PM in counteracting obesity, insulin resistance, hyperlipidaemia, liver injury, and systemic inflammation in HFD-induced mice.

Two-dimensional (2D) metal-organic framework (MOF) nanosheet membranes hold promise for exact molecular transfer due to their structural diversity and well-defined in-plane nanochannels. However, achieving precise regulation of stacking modes between neighboring nanosheets in membrane applications and understanding its influence on separation performance remains unrevealed and challenging. Here, we propose a strategy for accurately controlling the stacking modes of MOF nanosheets via linker polarity regulation.

β-coronavirus rearranges the host cellular membranes to form double-membrane vesicles (DMVs) via NSP3/4, which anchor replication-transcription complexes (RTCs), thereby constituting the replication organelles (ROs). However, the impact of specific domains within NSP3/4 on DMV formation and RO assembly remains largely unknown. By using cryogenic-correlated light and electron microscopy (cryo-CLEM), we discovered that the N-terminal and C-terminal domains (NTD and CTD) of SARS-CoV-2 NSP3 are essential for DMV formation.

DNA helicases play a pivotal role in maintaining genome integrity by unwinding the DNA double helix and are often considered promising targets for drug development. However, assessing specific DNA helicase activity in living cells remains challenging. Herein, the first anchor-embedded duplex (ATED) probe, 17GC, is constructed to uniquely monitor the unwinding activity of Werner syndrome helicase (WRN), a clinical anticancer target.

The development of novel methods to enhance enzyme-carrier interactions in situ, at a feasible cost, and on a large scale is crucial for improving the stability and durability of current immobilized enzyme systems used in industrial settings. Here, a pioneering approach termed "silica-based inorganic glue" is proposed, which utilizes protein-catalyzed silicification to fix enzyme within porous matrix while preserving enzyme activity. This innovative strategy offers several key benefits, including conformational stabilization of enzymes, improved interactions between enzymes and the matrix, prevention of enzyme leakage, and mitigation of pore blocking.

The rapid catalytic conversion toward polysulfides is considered to be an advantageous approach to boost the reaction kinetics and inhibit the shuttle effect in lithium-sulfur (Li─S) batteries. However, the prediction of high catalytic activity Li─S catalysts has become challenging given the carelessness in the relationship between important electronic characteristics of catalysts and catalytic activity. Herein, the relationships between the D-band regulation of catalysts with reaction kinetics toward polysulfides are described.

Mice are one of the most common biological models for laboratory use. However, wild-type mice are not susceptible to COVID-19 infection due to the low affinity of mouse ACE2, the entry protein for SARS-CoV-2. Although mice with human ACE2 (hACE2) driven by Ace2 promoter reflect its tissue specificity, these animals exhibit low ACE2 expression, potentially limiting their fidelity in mimicking COVID-19 manifestations and their utility in viral studies.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder and its underlying neuroanatomical mechanisms still remain unclear. The scaled subprofile model of principal component analysis (SSM-PCA) is a data-driven multivariate technique for capturing stable disease-related spatial covariance pattern. Here, SSM-PCA is innovatively applied to obtain robust ASD-related gray matter volume pattern associated with clinical symptoms.

Background: Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play a critical role in gastric cancer (GC) progression and metastasis. However, research comprehensively exploring tissue-derived lncRNAs for predicting peritoneal recurrence in patients with GC remains limited. This study aims to investigate the transcriptional landscape of lncRNAs in GC with peritoneal metastasis (PM) and to develop an integrated lncRNA-based score to predict peritoneal recurrence in patients with GC after radical gastrectomy.

Drug resistance is an important factor for prostate cancer (PCa) to progress into refractory PCa, and abnormal lipid metabolism usually occurs in refractory PCa, which presents great challenges for PCa therapy. Here, a cluster of differentiation 36 (CD36) inhibitor sulfosuccinimidyl oleate sodium (CD36i) and stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1 (SCD1) siRNA (siSCD1) are selected to inhibit lipid uptake and synthesis in PCa, respectively. To this end, a multiresponsive drug delivery nanosystem, HA@CD36i-TR@siSCD1 is designed.
