This study presents a comparative analysis of the influence of Ce-Gd and Gd-Y additions on the microstructural evolution, mechanical properties, and electrochemical behavior of extruded Mg-3Zn-Mn-Ca alloy rods. Despite the frequent incorporation of Gd, Y, and Ce as alloying elements in magnesium alloys, the systematic examination of their combined effects on Mg-Zn alloys has been limited. Our findings reveal that both Gd-Ce and Gd-Y additions significantly enhance the mechanical properties of Mg-3Zn-Mn-Ca alloy, although through differing mechanisms.

Spermatozoa cryopreservation protocols have been established for yellow catfish (), but cryopreservation can still cause cellular damage and affect spermatozoa viability and fertility. Therefore, the aim of this paper was to evaluate the effects of adding or not adding cryoprotectants during low-temperature storage on the ultrastructural damage, oxidative damage, and DNA damage of thawed yellow catfish spermatozoa. The mixed semen of three male yellow catfish was divided into a fresh spermatozoa group, a frozen spermatozoa group (DMSO) with a cryoprotectant (10% DMSO), and a frozen spermatozoa group without a cryoprotectant (DMSO).

The aim of this study was to optimize a sperm cryopreservation protocol for Basa catfish (Pangasius bocourti). Key factors for the efficiency of cryopreservation, including cryoprotectants, thawing conditions, equilibration times, dilution ratios and freezing methods, were investigated. The suitable time for post-thaw storage as well as pre-freezing cool storage was also examined.

Production of cryopreserved semen in fish generally requires liquid nitrogen (LN), which is not always easily available in remote areas. To reduce reliance on LN, the aim of the present study was to evaluate whether electric freezer could be a feasible LN-free alternative to cryopreserve brown-marbled grouper sperm. After loading, semen straws were put directly into freezers (-30 or -80°C) for freezing and then transferred to LN for storage.

Incorporation of Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) to the freezing medium provides advantageous effect for sperm cryopreservation in a variety of animal species, yet which has not been tested in giant grouper (Epinephelus lanceolatus). This research was designed to elucidate if CoQ10 could be used as a potential additive to improve giant grouper sperm quality after cryopreservation. After the process of freezing and thawing, various sperm quality parameters including motility, viability, apoptosis, mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, DNA fragmentation as well as fertilization rate were evaluated with CoQ10 added at concentrations of 0, 25, 50 and 100 μM.
