Despite the excellent advantages of biomicrorobots, such as autonomous navigation and targeting actuation, effective penetration and retention to deep lesion sites for effective therapy remains a longstanding challenge. Here, we present dual-engine cell microrobots, which we refer to as PR-robots, created by conjugating photosynthetic bacteria (PSB) with red blood cells (RBCs). The robots penetrate the tumor interior in swarms through combined hypoxic traction and ultrasound actuation (UA).

Vacuolar-type H+-ATPase (V-ATPase) is a crucial proton pump that plays an essential role in maintaining intracellular pH homeostasis and a variety of physiological processes. This review provides an in-depth exploration of the structural components, functional mechanisms, and regulatory modes of V-ATPase in cancer cells. Comprising two main domains, V and V, V-ATPase drives the proton pump through ATP hydrolysis, sustaining the pH balance within the cell and organelles.

Background: Living near waste incineration plants (WIPs) may have adverse effects on health associated with quality of life (QOL) among local residents. This study was undertaken to measure the QOL of residents living near WIPs in China, identify the association between residential distance from the WIPs and QOL, and assess the mediating effect of respiratory symptoms on the association between residential distance and QOL.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in communities surrounding three municipal WIPs in Dongguan, China.

Background: The relationship between the nadir platelet count within the first 48 h after intensive care unit (ICU) admission and the occurrence of acute kidney injury (AKI) in hemorrhagic shock patients remains unclear. This study investigated this association in adult patients admitted to the surgical ICU for hemorrhagic shock.
Methods: We included 124 hemorrhagic shock patients, excluding those with pre-existing AKI or chronic kidney disease (CKD), admitted to two affiliated hospitals between January 2019 and May 2022.

Various genetic association studies have identified numerous single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) risk. However, these studies have predominantly focused on common variants, leaving the contribution of rare variants to the "missing heritability" largely unexplored. Here, we integrate genotyping data from 3925 NPC cases and 15,048 healthy controls to identify a rare SNP, rs141121474, resulting in a Glu510Lys mutation in KLHDC4 gene linked to increased NPC risk.

We report an unconventional I-catalyzed cascade reaction for the synthesis of angular triquinane derivatives with a fused heterocycle skeleton, leveraging enaminones and anilines as simple acyclic precursors. The key to success lies in I functioning as a polar-reversal catalyst, which alters the reactivity at the α-position of the enaminone and facilitates the first hexa-functionalization of an enaminone along with the formation of highly congested continuous stereocenters.

Atherosclerosis is the main pathogenic factor of various cardiovascular diseases. During the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, macrophages play a major role, mainly by secreting pro-inflammatory cytokines and taking in lipids to form foam cells. Thiamine pyrophosphate (TPP) is an antagonist of the P2Y6 receptor, which is overexpressed on macrophages during atherosclerosis and facilitates the lipid phagocytosis of macrophages.

Hodgkin lymphoma variant of Richter syndrome (HL-type RS) is a very rare disease, in which chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) is transformed into novel Hodgkin lymphoma. The most important prognostic factor of HL-type RS is the clonal relationship between HL-type RS and the preexisting CLL/SLL. Detailed confirmation of clonally unrelated HL-type RS cases have not been reported.

Background: Rare diseases often entail significant challenges in clinical management and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) assessment. HRQoL assessment tools for rare diseases show substantial variability in outcomes, influenced by disease heterogeneity, intervention types, and scale characteristics. The variability in reported quality of life (QoL) improvements following interventions reflects a need to evaluate the effectiveness of HRQoL assessment tools and understand their suitability across diverse contexts.
