We aimed to explore the role of circular RNA 0043256 (circ_0043256) in gastric cancer (GC) and its underlying mechanisms. The impact of circ_0043256 silencing on the proliferation, migration, apoptosis, and aerobic glycolysis of MKN-45 and AGS cells induced by CoCl2 was assessed through the utilization of CCK-8, wound healing assay, flow cytometry, and metabolic analysis. The interaction between circ_0043256 and miR-593-5p, as well as the involvement of the miR-593-5p/RRM2 axis in gastric cancer, were confirmed via luciferase assay, Western blot, and bioinformatics analysis.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) presents a substantial clinical challenge due to the limited understanding of its genetic underpinnings. Here we conduct the largest scale whole-exome sequencing association study of NPC to date, encompassing 6,969 NPC cases and 7,100 controls. We unveil 3 germline genetic variants linked to NPC susceptibility: a common rs2276868 in RPL14, a rare rs5361 in SELE, and a common rs1050462 in HLA-B.

Department of Epidemiology, School of Public Health, Cheeloo College of Medicine, Shandong University, Jinan, Shandong, China.

Background And Objective: Previous studies have shown positive associations of waist circumference (WC) and waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) with left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) among children and adolescents. However, most of these studies were cross-sectional or limited to only two time points. We aim to estimate the association of trajectories in WC and WHtR with LVH during childhood.

Background: Despite the administration of timely reperfusion treatment, patients with acute myocardial infarction have a high mortality rate and poor prognosis. The potential impact of intraluminal imaging guidance, such as optical coherence tomography (OCT), on improving patient outcomes has yet to be conclusively studied. Therefore, we conducted a retrospective cohort study to compare OCT-guided primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) versus angiography-guided for patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).

Department of Cardiology, Guangdong Cardiovascular Institute, Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital (Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences), Southern Medical University, Guangzhou, 510080, China.

Background: Lately, numerous researches have portrayed stress hyperglycemia ratio (SHR) is predominantly connected with short-term adverse prognosis among individuals who have acute coronary syndrome. Nevertheless, the relation of SHR with prolonged effects and the value of SHR in predicting in coronary artery disease (CAD) patients with or lacking chronic kidney disease (CKD) remain unclear. The present study was designed to elucidate the relation of SHR with prolonged prognosis and the value of SHR in predicting the long-term all-cause and cardiovascular death of CAD patients with CKD or non-CKD.

Key Laboratory of Freshwater Fish Reproduction and Development, Ministry of Education, State Key Laboratory Breeding Base of Eco-Environments and Bio-Resources of the Three Gorges Reservoir Region, School of Life Sciences, Southwest University, Chongqing 400715, China.

Heterozygotic mutations are responsible for various congenital diseases in the heart, pancreas, liver, and other organs in humans. However, there is lack of an animal that can comprehensively model these diseases since GATA6 is essential for early embryogenesis. Here, we report the establishment of a knockout zebrafish which recapitulates most of the symptoms in patients with mutations, including cardiac outflow tract defects, pancreatic hypoplasia/agenesis, gallbladder agenesis, and various liver diseases.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors play an important role in the treatment of solid tumors, but the currently used immune checkpoint inhibitors targeting programmed cell death-1 (PD-1), programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-L1), and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen-4 (CTLA-4) show limited clinical efficacy in many breast cancers. B7H3 has been widely reported as an immunosuppressive molecule, but its immunological function in breast cancer patients remains unclear.

Methods: We analyzed the expression of B7H3 in breast cancer samples using data from the Cancer Genome Atlas Program (TCGA) and the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases.
