Background: Based on real data from the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS), we explored and evaluated the adverse reactions (ADRs) of sulfasalazine (SSZ) in the first quarter of 2004-2023 to provide a reference basis and early warning for the safe use of SSZ in the clinic.
Research Design And Methods: The reporting odds ratio (ROR), the proportional reporting ratio (PRR), the Bayesian confidence propagation neural network (BCPNN), and the empirical Bayesian geometric mean (EBGM) were used as measures of SSZ-associated adverse events (AEs) signals, mining for potential positive signals between SSZ and AE.
Results: In this study, a total of 5327 case reports related to SSZ in the last 20 years involving 25 system organ classes (SOCs) were collected in FAERS.

The fingerprint features of visceral adipose tissue (VAT) are intricately linked to bowel damage (BD) in patients with Crohn's disease (CD). We aimed to develop a VAT fingerprint index (VAT-FI) using radiomics and deep learning features extracted from computed tomography (CT) images of 1,135 CD patients across six hospitals (training cohort, = 600; testing cohort, = 535) for predicting BD, and to compare it with a subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT)-FI. VAT-FI exhibited greater predictive accuracy than SAT-FI in both training (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve [AUC] = 0.

Tuberculosis drug resistance contributes to the spread of tuberculosis. Immunotherapy is an effective strategy for treating tuberculosis, with the regulation of macrophage-mediated anti-tuberculosis immunity being crucial. Norcantharidin (NCTD), a drug used in tumor immunotherapy, has significant immunomodulatory effects.

To analyze the disease burden in middle-aged and elderly population aged ≥55 in Shenzhen from 2016 to 2030 and provide evidence for the development of healthy aging strategies. The years of life lost (YLL), years lost due to disability (YLD), and the disability-adjusted life year (DALY) in this population from 2016 to 2022 were calculated. Joinpoint log-linear regression model was used to analyze the time trend.

Bile acids are closely associated with necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), and their accumulation has cytotoxic effects on cells. However, the specific bile acid subtype involved in NEC and its underlying mechanisms remains poorly understood, limiting the therapeutic potential of bile acids as treatment targets. In the present study, deoxycholic acid (DCA) accumulation in the intestinal lumen exacerbated NEC-induced intestinal damage.

Extensive research has recently been conducted to investigate the regulating impact of exosomal circular RNAs (circRNAs) in throughout the development of multiple malignancies. Nevertheless, there is still much to learn about the biological roles and underlying mechanisms of exosomal circRNAs in colorectal cancer (CRC). Exosomes (exo) were isolated from blood samples and CRC cells by differential centrifugation.

Invasive micropapillary carcinoma of the breast (IMPC) exhibits a unique micropapillary structure and "inside-out" growth pattern. Despite its extremely low incidence, IMPC has attracted considerable attention owing to its poor prognosis. Since Siriaunkgul and Tavassoli first proposed the term IMPC in 1993 to describe its morphological characteristics, with tumor cell clusters arranged in a pseudopapillary structure within the glandular cavity, its diagnostic rate has substantially increased.

Objectives: Increasing concern about air pollution's impact on public health underscores the need to understand its effects on non-neoplastic digestive system diseases (NNDSD). This study explores the link between air pollution and NNDSD in China.
Methods: We conducted a national cross-sectional study using 2015 data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), involving 13,046 Chinese adults aged 45 and above from 28 provinces.

Purpose: The blood urea nitrogen/creatinine ratio (BCR) is an effective marker for disease severity stratification. Its efficacy has been demonstrated under numerous conditions. This study aims to investigate the relationship between BCR and in-hospital mortality in intensive care unit (ICU) patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD).

Chemerin, a chemotactic adipokine, plays essential roles in adipogenesis and inflammation. Serum chemerin concentration is closely associated with obesity and metabolism disorders. The mature form of chemerin (residues 21-157) acts primarily through chemerin receptor 1 (CMKLR1) for transmembrane signaling.

This study aims to elucidate the intricate effects of Acetyl tributyl citrate (ATBC) on bone metabolism, disentangling the underlying molecular mechanisms that govern the impact of environmental contaminants on disease processes. Leveraging the exhaustive exploration of databases such as ChEMBL, STITCH, GeneCards, and OMIM, we have identified a comprehensive list of 164 potential targets intimately associated with both ATBC and bone metabolism. Following rigorous refinement using the STRING platform and Cytoscape software, we pinpointed ten core targets, encompassing KDM1A, EP300, HDAC2, EHMT2, DNMT1, and several others.

Glioma is one of the most common malignant tumors and shows a high metastasis rate and poor prognosis. KLHDC8A has been implicated in several cancers, but its role in glioma and its potential as a biomarker remain unclear. We conducted a pan-cancer analysis of KLHDC8A using multiple databases and assessed its expression levels, survival associations, and diagnostic utility.

In this study, we investigated the regulatory role of curcumin in the differentiation of intestinal stem cells (ISCs) in dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced ulcerative colitis (UC) model mice and explored whether this effect was mediated by the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. We conducted experiments in DSS-induced UC model mice to observe changes in intestinal morphology through HE staining and detect the expression of key proteins in the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. According to these findings, curcumin was found to have a significant impact on the differentiation of ISCs.

Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) is a critical cytokine with substantial regulatory effects on hematopoiesis. Recent research highlights the essential role of PDGF in the modulation of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs), megakaryocytes/platelets, and thrombopoietin (TPO) synthesis within the bone marrow microenvironment. PDGF directly stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of HSPCs while also inhibiting apoptosis.

Chemerin is a chemotactic adipokine that participates in a multitude of physiological processes, including adipogenesis, leukocyte chemotaxis, and neuroinflammation. Chemerin exerts biological functions through binding to one or more of its G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), namely chemokine-like receptor 1 (CMKLR1), G protein-coupled receptor 1 (GPR1), and CC-motif receptor-like 2 (CCRL2). Of these receptors, CMKLR1 and GPR1 have been confirmed as signaling receptors of chemerin, whereas CCRL2 serves as a chemerin-binding protein without transmembrane signaling.

Respiratory-induced tumor motion presents a critical challenge in lung cancer radiotherapy, potentially impacting treatment precision and efficacy. This study introduces an innovative, deep learning-based approach for real-time, markerless lung tumor tracking utilizing orthogonal X-ray projection images. It incorporates three key components: (1) a sophisticated data augmentation technique combining a hybrid deformable model with 3D thin-plate spline transformation, (2) a state-of-the-art Transformer-based segmentation network for precise tumor boundary delineation, and (3) a CNN regression network for accurate 3D tumor position estimation.
