Cyclin D3 (CCND3), a member of the cyclin D family, is known to promote cell cycle transition. In this study, we found that CCND3 was downregulated in cisplatin-resistant (-diamminedichloroplatinum, DDP) lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) cells. The loss of CCND3 indeed impeded cell cycle transition.

Copper is a vital trace element crucial for mediating interactions between and macrophages. Within these immune cells, copper modulates oxidative stress responses and signaling pathways, enhancing macrophage immune functions and facilitating clearance. Conversely, copper may promote escape from macrophages through various mechanisms: inhibiting macrophage activity, diminishing phagocytic and bactericidal capacities, and supporting survival and proliferation.

Mendelian randomization (MR) was employed to investigate the causal relationships between immune cell phenotypes, hyperthyroidism (HD), and potential metabolic mediators. In this study, we acquired 731 immune cell phenotypes from genome-wide association studies (GWAS) (n = 18,622), HD data from the research by Handan Melike Dönertaş et al. (3,731 cases, 480,867 controls), and aggregated statistics of 1,400 blood metabolites from UK Biobank (n = 115,078).

The comprehensive adoption of Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) offers numerous benefits but also introduces risks of privacy leakage, particularly for patients with Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) who need protection from social secondary harm. Despite advancements in privacy protection research, the effectiveness of these strategies in real-world data remains debatable. The objective is to develop effective information extraction and privacy protection strategies to safeguard STI patients in the Chinese healthcare environment and prevent unnecessary privacy leakage during the data-sharing process of EMRs.

Atherosclerosis, a multifactorial progressive inflammatory disease, is the common pathology underlying cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. The macrophage plasticity is involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. With the advance of metabolomics and epigenetics, metabolites/metabolic and epigenetic modification such as DNA methylation, histone modification and noncoding RNA, play a crucial role in macrophage polarization and the progression of atherosclerosis.

Purpose: To evaluate and compare the efficacy of a newly designed in-house assistive internal fluid circulatory device in ureteroscopic lithotripsy for ureteral stones.
Methods: In this study, 97 patients were assigned to the trial group and underwent ureteroscopic lithotripsy with an in-house newly designed assistive internal fluid circulatory device; 96 patients were assigned to the control group and underwent traditional ureteroscopic lithotripsy without the assistive device. The primary outcome was the final stone-free rate (SFR) at 1-month post-surgery.

Acute pancreatitis (AP), induced by tetracycline, a widely used antibiotic, poses significant clinical and toxicological challenges, yet its molecular mechanisms remain unclear. This study aims to promote drug toxicology strategies for the effective investigation of the putative toxicity and potential molecular mechanisms of antibiotic drugs through the study of tetracycline in AP. Using the SwissTargetPrediction, SEA Search, Super-PRED, GeneCards, Drugbank, Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man (OMIM), and Therapeutic Target Database (TTD), we identified 259 potential targets associated with tetracycline exposure and AP.

The progression of tumors has been demonstrated to have a strong correlation with ferroptosis. Bis(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethylphenyl) sulfone (TMBPS) has been shown to effectively inhibit the proliferation of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but its underlying mechanism is not clear. In this study, ferrostatin-1 (Fer-1) was employed to explore whether the death of HCC cells caused by TMBPS is related to ferroptosis.

Allergic asthma is a chronic complex airway disease characterized by airway hyperresponsiveness, eosinophilic inflammation, excessive mucus secretion, and airway remodeling, with increasing mortality and incidence globally. The pathogenesis of allergic asthma is influenced by various factors including genetics, environment, and immune responses, making it complex and diverse. Recent studies have found that various cellular functions of mitochondria such as calcium regulation, adenosine triphosphate production, changes in redox potential, and free radical scavenging, are involved in regulating the pathogenesis of asthma.

Chondrocyte is considered the only cell type in cartilage. However, the cell heterogeneity of chondrocytes in human articular cartilage is still not well defined, which hinders our understanding of the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis (OA). Here, we constructed a single-cell transcriptomic atlas of chondrocytes in healthy cartilage and identified nine chondrocyte subsets including homeostatic chondrocytes, proliferate fibrochondrocytes, and hypertrophic chondrocytes (HTC).
