In the absence of effective treatment for COVID-19, disease prevention and control have become a top priority across the world. However, the general lack of effective cooperation between communities makes it difficult to suppress the community spread of the global pandemic; hence repeated outbreaks of COVID-19 have become the norm. To address this problem, this paper considers community cooperation in disease monitoring and designs a joint epidemic monitoring mechanism, in which adjacent communities cooperate to enhance their monitoring capability.

Early diagnosis of acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and early determination of the culprit vessel are associated with a better clinical outcome. We developed three deep learning (DL) models for detecting STEMIs and culprit vessels based on 12-lead electrocardiography (ECG) and compared them with conclusions of experienced doctors, including cardiologists, emergency physicians, and internists. After screening the coronary angiography (CAG) results, 883 cases (506 control and 377 STEMI) from internal and external datasets were enrolled for testing DL models.

The imbalance problem is widespread in real-world applications. When training a classifier on the imbalance datasets, the classifier is hard to learn an appropriate decision boundary, which causes unsatisfying classification performance. To deal with the imbalance problem, various ensemble algorithms are proposed.

Seagrasses constitute a significant part of coral reef ecosystems, representing high primary productivity and one of the most important coastal habitats in marine ecosystems. Though seagrasses possess irreplaceable ecological services to the marine environment, taxonomical ambiguity still exists due to similar morphological characters and phenotypic plasticity. As an emerging technology, DNA barcoding can effectively identify cryptic species using a short orthologous DNA region.

Background: Angiogenesis is tightly linked to inflammation. Cytokines of interleukin 1 (IL-1) family are key mediators in modulating inflammatory responses.
Methods: In this study, we examined the role of IL-38, a member of the IL-1 family, in mediating inflammation-induced angiogenesis.

Toll-like receptors (TLRs) play an important role in inflammatory and immunological responses, which are intimately related to neovascularization. However, the precise mode of action of TLR3 in neovascularization still remains ambiguous. In this study, we sought to investigate the role of TLR3 in pathological corneal neovascularization (CNV) using a mouse model of alkali-induced CNV.
