Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) T790M mutation has shown to be associated with the clinical outcomes of patients after initial EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI) therapy in EGFR-mutant advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, its predictive role in EGFR-TKI re-challenge remains unknown. The present study was aimed to explore the correlation between T790M mutation and any benefits from EGFR-TKI re-challenge.

Objective: To explore the anesthetic effect and safety of ultrasound-guided thoracic paravertebral blockade in video-assisted thoracoscopic sympathectomy for treatment of palmar hyperhidrosis.
Methods: A total of 120 patients undergoing video-assisted thoracoscopic sympathectomy for moderate or severe hyperhidrosis were randomized to receive ultrasound-guided thoracic paravertebral blockade (group A, n=60) or general anesthesia with tracheal intubation (group B, n=60). In both groups routine monitoring and radial artery catheterization were used.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) activates E2F1-driven transcription via the E7-RB1-E2F pathway. Genetic polymorphisms in the 3' untranslated region (UTR) targeted by miRNAs can affect the regulation of target genes and individual cancer risk. Thus, we hypothesized that a polymorphism at the 3'UTR miRNA binding site of E2F1 gene (rs3213180) was associated with risk of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and tumor HPV status of oropharynx squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC).

In obstetric brachial plexus palsy (OBPP), irreversible muscle atrophy occurs much faster in intrinsic muscles of the hand than in the biceps. To elucidate the mechanisms involved, mRNA expression profiles of denervated intrinsic muscles of the forepaw (IMF) and denervated biceps were determined by microarray using the rat model of OBPP where atrophy of IMF is irreversible while atrophy of biceps is reversible. Relative to contralateral control, 446 dysregulated mRNAs were detected in denervated IMF and mapped to 51 KEGG pathways, and 830 dysregulated mRNAs were detected in denervated biceps and mapped to 52 KEGG pathways.

Introduction: The mesenchymal-epithelial transition (MET) protein is the only known receptor for hepatocyte growth factor and has recently been identified as a novel promising target in several human cancers, including NSCLC. Activation of the MET signaling pathway can occur via different mechanisms. A number of compounds targeting MET have been evaluated in clinical trials, and recent clinical data have begun to afford some insight into the tumor types and patient populations that might benefit from treatment with MET pathway inhibitors.

Background: Patients with central tracheobronchial benign or malignant lesions who have not recieved surgical treatment can be treated by interventional techniques, such as laser, afterloading radiotherapy, cryotherapy, photodynamics treatment, radiofrequency ablation and stenting, etc. The accuracy of the invasive depth of central lesion in tracheobronchial wall plays an important role in making interventional treatment plan. This study used radial probe endobronchial ultrasound (RP-EBUS) scanning to evaluate the accuracy of the invasive depth of central lesions in tracheobronchial wall, and the influence of RP-EBUS scanning in treatment plan making and guidance.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is highly invasive with a high frequency of recurrence following surgery and poor prognosis. The underlying molecular mechanisms for HCC recurrence are not well understood. Here, we used microarray technology for genome-wide analysis to identify genes who may be involved in tumor recurrence.

Objective: To study the immunophenotype and overall survival of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) classified according to the 2008 World Health Organization classification of tumors of hematopoietic and lymphoid tissues.
Methods: Five hundred cases of DLBCL were retrospectively analyzed with histologic review, immunohistochemistry, gene rearrangement study, in situ hybridization and fluorescence in situ hybridization. Follow-up data were collected.
