Glutathione-scavenging natural-derived ferroptotic nano-amplifiers strengthen tumor therapy through aggravating iron overload and lipid peroxidation.

J Control Release

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences, University of Macau, Macau SAR 999078, China. Electronic address:

Nanomedicine-driven ferroptosis has emerged as a promising tumor treatment strategy through delivering exogenous iron and aggravating the lethal accumulation of lipid peroxides (LPO). However, the compensatory mechanisms of ferroptosis defense systems in cancer cells compromise the therapeutic efficacy and lead to potential side effects. Herein, a highly effective ferroptotic nano-amplifier is designed to synergistically promote ferroptosis via increasing intracellular labile iron, exacerbating lipid peroxidation and overcoming the defense system.

The Affiliated Brain Hospital, Guangzhou Medical University, Guangzhou 510370, China; Key Laboratory of Neurogenetics and Channelopathies of Guangdong Province and the Ministry of Education of China, Guangzhou Medical University, Guangzhou, China. Electronic address:

Childhood maltreatment represents a strong psychological stressor that may lead to the development of later psychopathology as well as a heightened risk of health and social problems. Despite a surge of interest in examining behavioral, neurocognitive, and brain connectivity profiles sculpted by such early adversity over the past decades, little is known about the neurobiological substrates underpinning childhood maltreatment. Here, we aim to detect the effects of childhood maltreatment on whole-brain resting-state functional connectivity (RSFC) in a cohort of healthy adults and to explore whether such RSFC profiles can be used to predict the severity of childhood trauma in subjects based on a data-driven connectome-based predictive modeling (CPM).

Int J Psychophysiol

January 2025

Department of Applied Psychology, College of Public Administration, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangzhou, China. Electronic address:

Investigating the neurophysiological indicators of behavioral inhibition is crucial; however, despite numerous studies on the relationship between behavioral inhibition and resting-state electroencephalography (rs-EEG), the findings have yielded inconsistent results. Furthermore, these investigations primarily focused on reactive inhibition while neglecting intentional inhibition. Therefore, this study aimed to reassess the correlation between reactive inhibition and rs-EEG metrics while also exploring the association between intentional inhibition and rs-EEG.

The efficacy of traceability analysis is often limited by a lack of information on influencing factors for heavy metal (HM) contaminations in soil, such as spatial correlations between HM concentrations and influencing factors. To overcome this limitation, a novel data-driven framework was established to identify influencing factors for soil HM concentrations in an industrialised study area, in Guangdong Province, China, mainly using random forest (RF) and bivariate local Moran's I (BLMI) on the basis of the 577 soil samples and the 18 environmental covariates. The quantitative contributions of the 18 influencing factors for the Cd, As, Pb, and Cr concentrations were determined by the optimised RF.

College of Mechatronics and Control Engineering, Shenzhen University, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.

Multi-view classification integrates features from different views to optimize classification performance. Most of the existing works typically utilize semantic information to achieve view fusion but neglect the spatial information of data itself, which accommodates data representation with correlation information and is proven to be an essential aspect. Thus robust independent subspace analysis network, optimized by sparse and soft orthogonal optimization, is first proposed to extract the latent spatial information of multi-view data with subspace bases.

Deep multiple instance learning (MIL) pipelines are the mainstream weakly supervised learning methodologies for whole slide image (WSI) classification. However, it remains unclear how these widely used approaches compare to each other, given the recent proliferation of foundation models (FMs) for patch-level embedding and the diversity of slide-level aggregations. This paper implemented and systematically compared six FMs and six recent MIL methods by organizing different feature extractions and aggregations across seven clinically relevant end-to-end prediction tasks using WSIs from 4044 patients with four different cancer types.
