Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-3 (VEGFR-3) plays an indispensable role in lymphangiogenesis. Previous findings suggest that blocking the VEGFR-3 signaling pathway can inhibit lymph node metastasis effectively, thus reducing the incidence of distant metastasis. The development of new VEGFR-3-targeting drugs for early detection and effective treatments is, therefore, urgently required.

Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune skin disorder characterized by high morbidity and a tendency for recurrence. Although biologic therapy for lesion clearance can achieve PASI 90/100, refractory sites remain challenging to completely clear, particularly on the lower legs and elbows. To explore the efficacy of novel treatments for these resistant sites, we present a clinical observation on the safety and effectiveness of fractional carbon dioxide (CO2) laser therapy combined with secukinumab for four patients with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis.

The STK11 gene mutation is a common genetic alteration in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and is significantly associated with poor responses to current immunotherapy regimens. Despite its prevalence, there is currently no established standard for front-line treatment in this subtype of NSCLC, underscoring the increasing need for personalized therapeutic strategies. In this report, we present a case of a patient with STK11-mutant NSCLC who was treated with first-line cadonilimab (10mg/kg) in combination with pemetrexed (500mg/m^2) plus carboplatin (AUC=5), resulting in a notable extension of progression-free survival (PFS).

This study explores a novel therapeutic strategy for relapsed/refractory (R/R) Burkitt lymphoma (BL) by integrating autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (ASCT) with tandem anti-CD19/CD22 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy. A 20-year-old Asian male with refractory BL, whose lymphoma had not responded to multiple chemoimmunotherapy regimens, received myeloablative ASCT followed three days later by infusion of a novel third-generation CAR T cells engineered with CD28 and CD3ζ signaling domains, along with a TLR2 costimulatory domain. This resulted in sustained complete remission at the 306-day follow-up, without experiencing any severe complications.

Chondrocytes maintain the balance of the extracellular matrix by synthesizing glycoproteins, collagen, proteoglycans and hyaluronic acid. Chondrocyte dedifferentiation refers to a process in which chondrocytes lose their mature differentiated phenotype and transform into a fibroblast-like morphology with fewer differentiated stages and inferior function under external stimulation. The important mechanism of homeostasis loss in osteoarthritis (OA) is a change in the chondrocyte phenotype.

Periodontitis, a chronic inflammatory disease, is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults and is one of the most prevalent and complex oral conditions. Oxidative stress induced by the excessive generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) leads to periodontitis, which is closely associated with pathological processes, including mitochondrial dysfunction of periodontal cells and local immune dysregulation. However, current treatment modalities that target single pathological processes have limited long-term therapeutic effects.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFBecause therapeutic cancer vaccines can, in theory, eliminate tumor cells specifically with relatively low toxicity, they have long been considered for application in repressing cancer progression. Traditional cancer vaccines containing a single or a few discrete tumor epitopes have failed in the clinic, possibly due to challenges in epitope selection, target downregulation, cancer cell heterogeneity, tumor microenvironment immunosuppression, or a lack of vaccine immunogenicity. Whole cancer cell or cancer membrane vaccines, which provide a rich source of antigens, are emerging as viable alternatives.
