2D CoOOH Sheet-Encapsulated NiP into Tubular Arrays Realizing 1000 mA cm-Level-Current-Density Hydrogen Evolution Over 100 h in Neutral Water.

Nanomicro Lett

July 2020

State Key Laboratory of Material Processing and Die and Mould Technology, and School of Materials Science and Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, 430074, Hubei, People's Republic of China.

Water electrolysis at high current density (1000 mA cm level) with excellent durability especially in neutral electrolyte is the pivotal issue for green hydrogen from experiment to industrialization. In addition to the high intrinsic activity determined by the electronic structure, electrocatalysts are also required to be capable of fast mass transfer (electrolyte recharge and bubble overflow) and high mechanical stability. Herein, the 2D CoOOH sheet-encapsulated NiP into tubular arrays electrocatalytic system was proposed and realized 1000 mA cm-level-current-density hydrogen evolution over 100 h in neutral water.

The poultry pathogen Riemerella anatipestifer appears as a reservoir for Tet(X) tigecycline resistance.

Environ Microbiol

December 2021

Department of Pathogen Biology & Microbiology and Department of General Intensive Care Unit of the Second Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, 310058, China.

The transferability of bacterial resistance to tigecycline, the 'last-resort' antibiotic, is an emerging challenge of global health concern. The plasmid-borne tet(X) that encodes a flavin-dependent monooxygenase represents a new mechanism for tigecycline resistance. Natural source for an ongoing family of Tet(X) resistance determinants is poorly understood.

Pairing denitrifying phosphorus accumulating organisms with anaerobic ammonium oxidizing bacteria for simultaneous N and P removal.

Sci Total Environ

September 2021

University of Washington, Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, 616 Northlake Place, Seattle, WA 98195, USA. Electronic address:

Coupling of denitrifying polyphosphate accumulating organisms (DPAO) with anaerobic ammonium oxidizing (Anammox) bacteria in a single treatment scheme has so far been unsuccessful but could offer substantial energy savings, minimize sludge production, while achieving simultaneous carbon, nitrogen and phosphate removal. However, both organisms compete for nitrite and have vastly different growth rates and therefore the goal of this study was to uncouple their solid retention time (SRT) by growing them in different sludge fractions and to determine their biomass specific kinetic properties. Anammox bacteria were grown in a biofilm for longer SRTs and DPAO in flocs to allow shorter SRTs.

Phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5) inhibitors are commonly used to treat erectile dysfunction. There is a problem with synthesis and illegal use of a wide range of analogues of the licenced drugs and a simple class-wide analytical method is required. In this work, based on structural modelling, we developed an immunological method using norneovardenafil as a hapten as it contains only the general sub-structure and the common features of sildenafil-like adulterants, such as hydrophobic centres, hydrogen-bond donor atoms and hydrogen-bond acceptor atoms.

The TonB system in Aeromonas hydrophila NJ-35 is essential for MacAB efflux pump-mediated macrolide resistance.

Vet Res

April 2021

Joint International Research Laboratory of Animal Health and Food Safety, College of Veterinary Medicine, Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing, Jiangsu, China.

The TonB system is generally considered as an energy transporting device for the absorption of nutrients. Our recent study showed that deletion of this system caused a significantly increased sensitivity of Aeromonas hydrophila to the macrolides erythromycin and roxithromycin, but had no effect on other classes of antibiotics. In this study, we found the sensitivity of ΔtonB123 to all macrolides tested revealed a 8- to 16-fold increase compared with the wild-type (WT) strain, but this increase was not related with iron deprivation caused by tonB123 deletion.
