Endothelial extracellular vesicles (EVs) serve as potential intercellular communicators, transmitting biological information from the donor cell to the recipient cell, exerting both harmful and beneficial effects on vascular function.

Unhealthy biological aging is related to higher incidence of varied age-related diseases, even higher all-cause mortality. Previous small sample size study suggested that Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) was associated with biological aging, but the evidence of exposure-response relationships, potential effect modifiers, and potential mediators were not investigated. Therefore, we conducted a cross-sectional analysis of national study including 14, 865 adults in the US from 8 survey cycles of NHANES from 2003 to 2018, to investigate the associations of PFAS compounds in body serum, including perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS), perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA), and perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), with biological aging.

Background: Triglyceride (TG) and its related metabolic indices are recognized as important biomarker gauging cardiovascular diseases. Using novel deep learning models for rapid and efficient assistance in monkeypox screening from skin images.

Monkeypox, a communicable disease instigated by the monkeypox virus, transmits through direct contact with infectious skin lesions or mucosal blisters, posing severe complications such as pneumonia, encephalitis, and even fatality. Traditional clinical diagnostics, heavily reliant on the discerning judgment of clinical experts, are both time-consuming and labor-intensive, with inherent infection risks, underscoring the critical need for automated, efficient auxiliary diagnostic models. In response, we have developed a deep learning classification model augmented by self-attention mechanisms and feature pyramid integration, employing attentional strategies to amalgamate image features across varying scales and assimilating knowledge from the VGG model to selectively capture salient features.

Association between weight-adjusted-waist index and gynecologic cancers: a population-based study.

Objective: This study aims to analyze the association between the weight-adjusted waist index (WWI) and the risk of gynecologic cancers, using data collected from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2011 to 2016.

Methods: We employed multiple logistic regression analysis to investigate the relationship between WWI and risk of gynecologic cancers. Subsequent subgroup analyses were performed on specific populations of interest.

Altered resting-state and dynamic functional connectivity of hypothalamic in first-episode depression: A functional magnetic resonance imaging study.

The hypothalamus is an important component of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and an important brain region of the limbic system. Twenty-four first depressive episode(FDE) patients and 25 healthy controls were recruited for this study. The hypothalamus was used as a seed to observe the characteristics of resting state and dynamic functional connectivity (FC) changes in FDE patients, and further observed the correlation between the different brain regions and clinical symptoms.
