Background: Mucosae-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphomas are a rare and poorly understood form of primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL). The aim of this study was to better describe these tumors, their management and their long-term prognosis.
Methods: Patients with primary CNS MALT lymphoma (PCNSML) were retrospectively selected from the database on PCNSL of the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital.

Purpose: Epidemiologic studies have documented lower rates of active smokers compared to former or non-smokers in symptomatic patients affected by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). We assessed the efficacy and safety of nicotine administered by a transdermal patch in critically ill patients with COVID-19 pneumonia.
Methods: In this multicentre, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial conducted in 18 intensive care units in France, we randomly assigned adult patients (non-smokers, non-vapers or who had quit smoking/vaping for at least 12 months) with proven COVID-19 pneumonia receiving invasive mechanical ventilation for up to 72 h to receive transdermal patches containing either nicotine at a daily dose of 14 mg or placebo until 48 h following successful weaning from mechanical ventilation or for a maximum of 30 days, followed by 3-week dose tapering by 3.
Amelogenesis imperfecta, a rare disease, represents inherited, congenital defects that primarily affect enamel with esthetic and functional impairment affecting everyday life. We present oral rehabilitation of a mother and her son, respectively, suffering from an hypoplastic and an hypocalcified form of AI.

Radiation therapy (RT) is one of the main treatments administered to patients with cancer. The development of technology has improved RT accuracy by allowing more precise delivery of high doses to the target volumes with reduced exposure of healthy tissue. Life expectancy has increased due to these therapeutic advancements and the patients' quality of life remains a major concern.

Objective: Blunt traumatic aortic injury (BTAI) in severe trauma patients is rare but potentially lethal. The aim of this work was to perform a current epidemiological analysis of the clinical and surgical management of these patients in a European country.
Methods: This was a multicentre, retrospective study using prospectively collected data from the French National Trauma Registry and the National Uniform Hospital Discharge Database from 10 trauma centres in France.

Different types of white matter hyperintensities (WMH) can be observed through MRI in the brain and spinal cord, especially Multiple Sclerosis (MS) lesions for patients suffering from MS and age-related WMH for subjects with cognitive disorders and/or elderly people. To better diagnose and monitor the disease progression, the quantitative evaluation of WMH load has proven to be useful for clinical routine and trials. Since manual delineation for WMH segmentation is highly time-consuming and suffers from intra and inter observer variability, several methods have been proposed to automatically segment either MS lesions or age-related WMH, but none is validated on both WMH types.

Patient-ventilator synchronization during non-invasive ventilation (NIV) can be assessed by visual inspection of flow and pressure waveforms but it remains time consuming and there is a large inter-rater variability, even among expert physicians. SyncSmart™ software developed by Breas Medical (Mölnycke, Sweden) provides an automatic detection and scoring of patient-ventilator asynchrony to help physicians in their daily clinical practice. This study was designed to assess performance of the automatic scoring by the SyncSmart software using expert clinicians as a reference in patient with chronic respiratory failure receiving NIV.

A growing number of studies in animal models have highlighted the link between sleep disorders and Alzheimer's disease (AD). In the absence of curative treatment, it is therefore important to consider any comorbidities that may influence the course of AD such as obstructive sleep apnoea-hypnoea (OSAH) and its syndrome (OSAHS), which appear to be potentially interesting because it occurs frequently, it is treatable and it is often associated with cognitive impairment. The association between OSAH/OSAHS and cognition is variable across studies, but OSAH/OSAHS is more common in older patients with AD than in cognitively normal individuals.

The renal toxicity of anticancer drugs is a clinical challenge because of the intrinsic toxicity of some anticancer drugs and because the cancer itself. Indeed, cancer patients are exposed to all types of renal disorders (obstructive, functional, organic because of radiotherapy, paraneoplastic glomerulopathy, thrombotic microangiopathy…). The therapeutic index of anticancer drugs is often narrow and the doses used for optimal efficacy are high.

Purpose Of Review: This review aims to cover current MRI techniques for assessing treatment response in brain tumors, with a focus on radio-induced lesions.
Recent Findings: Pseudoprogression and radionecrosis are common radiological entities after brain tumor irradiation and are difficult to distinguish from real progression, with major consequences on daily patient care. To date, shortcomings of conventional MRI have been largely recognized but morphological sequences are still used in official response assessment criteria.

Delirium is an emergency and can have serious consequences. On the arrival at the emergency room of an elderly person, it should be systematically checked for confusional syndrome. If it is confirmed, a systematic and rapid etiological assessment carried out in the emergency room allows the identification of predisposing and precipitating factors.

Background: Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic used in osteoarticular infections owing to its very good bone penetration. Very few pharmacokinetic data are available in this population.
Objectives: To investigate oral ciprofloxacin population pharmacokinetics in adult patients treated for osteoarticular infections and propose guidance for more effective dosing.

Background: Critically ill patients with obesity may have an increased risk of difficult intubation and subsequent severe hypoxemia. We hypothesized that pre-oxygenation with noninvasive ventilation before intubation as compared with high-flow nasal cannula oxygen may decrease the risk of severe hypoxemia in patients with obesity.
Methods: Post hoc subgroup analysis of critically ill patients with obesity (body mass index ≥ 30 kg·m) from a multicenter randomized controlled trial comparing preoxygenation with noninvasive ventilation and high-flow nasal oxygen before intubation of patients with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (PaO/FiO < 300 mm Hg).

Study Objectives: Mandibular advancement devices (MADs) are an alternative to continuous positive airway pressure for the management of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The ORthèse d'avanCée mAndibulaire dans le traitement en DEuxième intention du SAHOS sévère (ORCADES) study is investigating the long-term effectiveness of MAD therapy in patients with OSA who refused or were intolerant of continuous positive airway pressure. Five-year follow-up data are presented.

Introduction: No recent national guidelines exist regarding the management of urinary tract infections (UTIs) in the presence of ureteral stent. This situation could lead to discrepancies in clinical management and less opportunity for a favorable patient's outcome.
Methods: All available data published on Medline® between 1998 and 2018 were systematically searched and reviewed.

Transactivation response DNA binding protein 43 kDa (TDP-43) is known to be a pathologic protein in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD). TDP-43 is normally a nuclear protein, but affected neurons of ALS or FTLD patients exhibit mislocalization of nuclear TDP-43 and cytoplasmic inclusions. Basic studies have suggested gain-of-neurotoxicity of aggregated TDP-43 or loss-of-function of intrinsic, nuclear TDP-43.

Chronic respiratory disease is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide and an important cause of disability including a reduction of exercise, functional and muscle capacity contributing to a decreased quality of life. In the context of pulmonary rehabilitation, a thorough patient-centered outcome assessment, including not only measures of lung function, but also exercise functional and muscle capacity, is imperative for a comprehensive disease management. Assessment of these impairments and dysfunctions with appropriate and change-sensitive procedures is thus necessary for personalizing the physical interventions and assessing the short- and long-term effectiveness of the intervention.

Purpose: The characteristics and impact of bacteremia have not been widely investigated in immunocompromised patients with acute respiratory failure (ARF).
