Unité "Organisation nucléaire et Oncogenèse", INSERM U993, Institut Pasteur, 28, rue du Docteur Roux, 75724, Paris, Cedex 15, France.

RT-qPCR detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA still represents the method of reference to diagnose and monitor COVID-19. From the onset of the pandemic, however, doubts have been expressed concerning the sensitivity of this molecular diagnosis method. Droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) is a third-generation PCR technique that is particularly adapted to detecting low-abundance targets.

Frequently overlooked during the patient's treatment, psychological trauma can constitute a significant part of the addiction problem. Clinical data reveal a high incidence of post-traumatic stress disorder for which addictive behaviours may be a way of repressing the anxiety caused by the trauma. Systematic screening for trauma would help to ensure an appropriate treatment plan is put in place.

Objective: The dual-pathway model has been proposed to explain the heterogeneity in symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) by two independent psychological pathways based on distinct brain circuits. The authors sought to test whether the hypothesized cognitive and motivational pathways have separable neural correlates.

Methods: In a longitudinal community-based cohort of 1,963 adolescents, the neuroanatomical correlates of ADHD were identified by a voxel-wise association analysis and then validated using an independent clinical sample (99 never-medicated patients with ADHD, 56 medicated patients with ADHD, and 267 healthy control subjects).

Half of patients newly diagnosed with esophageal squamous cell cancer (ESCC) have metastatic disease (mESCC) and therefore a poor prognosis. Furthermore, half of patients with initial loco-regional disease present disease recurrence after surgery and/or chemoradiation. In mESCC, the recommended first-line treatment combines 5-fluorouracil and cisplatin, although this has not been validated by a phase III trial.

Electronic address:

Though adolescence is a time of emerging sex differences in emotions, sex-related differences in the anatomy of the maturing brain has been under-explored over this period. The aim of this study was to investigate whether puberty and sexual differentiation in brain maturation could explain emotional differences between girls and boys during adolescence. We adapted a dedicated longitudinal pipeline to process structural and diffusion images from 335 typically developing adolescents between 14 and 16 years.

February 2020

INSERM, Research Unit 1000 "Neuroimaging and Psychiatry", Paris Saclay University, Paris Descartes University, DIGITEO Labs, Gif sur Yvette, France; Groupe Hospitalier Nord Essonne, Psychiatry Department 91G16, Orsay, France. Electronic address:

Background: A reduced presynaptic dopamine neurotransmission has long been implicated in major depressive disorder (MDD). However, molecular imaging studies that assessed the dopamine transporter (DAT) availability have led to inconsistent results, partly due to methodological considerations, and to exclusive focus on the striatum, precluding findings in extra-striatal regions.

Methods: Herein, we leveraged our database of high-resolution Positron Emission Tomography (PET) images acquired with a highly selective radiotracer, [C]PE2I, to assess striatal and extra-striatal DAT availability in eight patients treated for depression compared to twenty-four healthy controls.

May 2018

Université Sorbonne Paris Cité, INSERM UMR-S1147 MEPPOT, CNRS SNC5014, Centre Universitaire des Saints-Pères, Equipe Labellisée Ligue Nationale Contre le Cancer, Paris. Electronic address:

Background: RAS mutations are currently sought for in tumor samples, which takes a median of almost 3 weeks in western European countries. This creates problems in clinical situations that require urgent treatment and for inclusion in therapeutic trials that need RAS status for randomization. Analysis of circulating tumor DNA might help to shorten the time required to determine RAS mutational status before anti-epidermal growth factor receptor antibody therapy for metastatic colorectal cancer.

Dopamine Transporter and Reward Anticipation in a Dimensional Perspective: A Multimodal Brain Imaging Study.

Neuropsychopharmacology

March 2018

INSERM, Research Unit 1000 'Neuroimaging and Psychiatry', Paris Sud University-Paris Saclay University, Paris Descartes University, Maison de Solenn, Paris & Service Hospitalier Frédéric Joliot, Orsay, France.

Dopamine function and reward processing are highly interrelated and involve common brain regions afferent to the nucleus accumbens, within the mesolimbic pathway. Although dopamine function and reward system neural activity are impaired in most psychiatric disorders, it is unknown whether alterations in the dopamine system underlie variations in reward processing across a continuum encompassing health and these disorders. We explored the relationship between dopamine function and neural activity during reward anticipation in 27 participants including healthy volunteers and psychiatric patients with schizophrenia, depression, or cocaine addiction, using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) multimodal imaging with a voxel-based statistical approach.
