Purpose: The phase III CELESTIAL study demonstrated improved overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) with cabozantinib versus placebo in patients with previously treated, advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We analyzed outcomes by baseline alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and on-treatment AFP changes.
Patients And Methods: Serum AFP was measured every 8 weeks by blinded, centralized testing.

Ibrutinib has revolutionized the management of chronic lymphocytic leukemia and is now being increasingly used. Although considered to be less immunosuppressive than conventional immunochemotherapy, the observation of a few cases of invasive fungal infections in patients treated with ibrutinib prompted us to conduct a retrospective survey. We identified 33 cases of invasive fungal infections in patients receiving ibrutinib alone or in combination.

Polycystic ovaries syndrome (PCOS), the most common female endocrine disorder, affects 7-10% of women of childbearing age. It includes ovarian hyperandrogenism, impaired follicular maturation, anovulation and subfertility. Insulin resistance, although present in most cases, is not necessary for diagnosis.

Background: Most peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) patients have a poor outcome and the identification of prognostic factors at diagnosis is needed.
Patients And Methods: The prognostic impact of total metabolic tumor volume (TMTV0), measured on baseline [(18)F]2-fluoro-2-deoxy-d-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography, was evaluated in a retrospective study including 108 PTCL patients (27 PTCL not otherwise specified, 43 angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphomas and 38 anaplastic large-cell lymphomas). All received anthracycline-based chemotherapy.

We report five chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) patients in whom we identified and characterized undescribed BCR-ABL1 fusion transcripts. We investigated the precise features of the molecular rearrangements and the minimal residual disease follow-up for these five patients. Three resulted from new rearrangements between the BCR and ABL1 sequences (the breakpoints being located within BCR exon 13 in two cases and within BCR exon 18 in one case).

Facioscapulohumeral dystrophy (FSHD), one of the most common forms of muscular dystrophy, derives its name from the patients' selective, often asymmetric clinical distribution of muscle weakness. Interestingly, affected and non affected areas can coexist in the same patient for many years. The molecular hallmark is total deletion of the subtelomeric D4Z4 repeat on chromosome 4q.

International guidelines emphasize the importance of LDL cholesterol (LDL-C) assay in the care and follow-up of patients with cardiovascular risk. Most studies and common practice use Friedewald's formula for LDL-C calculation. The accuracy of the result depends closely on the precision of the input parameters (total cholesterol, triglycerides (TG) and HDL cholesterol), and discrepancies between calculated LDL-C and measurement by reference methods appear when TG exceed 4.
