Capnocytophaga zoonotic infections: a 10-year retrospective study (the French CANCAN study).

Zoonotic species of Capnocytophaga genus belong to the oral microbiota of dogs and cats. They may be responsible for serious human infections, mainly after animal bites, with a high mortality rate. In France, only few cases have been reported and no multicenter study has been conducted.

Antimicrobial and Antioxidant Properties of Total Polyphenols of Retz.

Retz has been used for a long time in phytotherapy. The aim of the present study was to determine the antioxidant and antibacterial activities of extracts from the leaves and roots of Retz. We first determined the content of phenolic compounds and flavonoids using Folin-Ciocalteu reagents and aluminum chloride (AlCl).

[Factors Associated with Prolonged Duration of Labor in Medical Termination of Pregnancy in the 2nd and 3rd Trimesters].

Objective: In the context of a medical termination of pregnancy, prolonged labor may accentuate the difficulty of women's experience and increase the risk of associated complications. The factors associated with prolonged labor are not known. Reducing the duration of labor could limit these complications.

Posttraumatic Osteoarthritis Damage in Mice: From Histological and Micro-Computed Tomodensitometric Changes to Gait Disturbance.

Objectives: Osteoarthritis is a painful joint disease responsible for walking impairment. Its quantitative assessment by gait analysis in mice may be a relevant and noninvasive strategy to assess the disease severity. In this study, we aimed to determine the severity of osteoarthritis at the tissular and gait levels in unilateral and bilateral posttraumatic murine osteoarthritis.

Burden of liver disease progression in hospitalized patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Background & Aims: There are uncertainties regarding the burden of liver disease in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Thus, we aimed to quantify the burden of liver disease, identify risk factors, and estimate attributable risks in patients with T2D.

Methods: We measured adjusted hazard ratios of liver disease progression to hepatocellular carcinoma and/or decompensated cirrhosis in a 2010-2020 retrospective, bicentric, longitudinal, cohort of 52,066 hospitalized patients with T2D.

Resection and extemporaneous coverage of a soft tissue sarcoma with a pedicled groin flap in the trochanteric region: Technical note.

The main issues pertaining to oncological surgery of the musculoskeletal system are tumour resection with sufficient margins, and the coverage of inherent defects. We report the use of a pedicled cutaneous groin flap as coverage for a trochanteric defect following an oncological resection of a grade III pleomorphic soft tissue sarcoma in a 75-year-old patient. This flap is not routinely used in the coverage of a defect in this region.

Knee Osteoarthritis Pain Management with an Innovative High and Low Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid Formulation (HA-HL): A Randomized Clinical Trial.

Introduction: The objective of this study was to compare a single intra-articular injection of an innovative high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid formulation (HA-HL) versus placebo in treating moderate-to-severe symptomatic knee osteoarthritis.

Methods: Subjects with primary osteoarthritis knee pain (Kellgren and Lawrence grade 2-3) were randomly assigned to intra-articular HA-HL or placebo in a prospective, double-blind, 24-week study. The primary outcome variable was change from screening to week 24 of a Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) pain score.

Impact of vascular liver disease on the menstrual cycle and metabolic status in premenopausal women.

Background: Vascular liver disease (VLD) are rare liver diseases, which affect women at reproductive ages. Main complications are bleeding (portal hypertension, thrombopenia or anticoagulation related) and thromboembolism. Failure of liver function can occur.

Retinoic Acid: A New Old Friend of IL-17A in the Immune Pathogeny of Liver Fibrosis.

Despite all the medical advances mortality due to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, the end stages of fibrosis, continuously increases. Recent data suggest that liver fibrosis is guided by type 3 inflammation with IL-17A at the top of the line. The storage of vitamin A and its active metabolites, as well as genetics, can influence the development and progression of liver fibrosis and inflammation.

Rehabilitation and lumbar surgery: the French recommendations for clinical practice.

Background: Indications and techniques of rehabilitation differ widely across types of lumbar surgery, including timing (before or after surgery) and prescriptions (surgeons but also medical or paramedical professionals).

Objectives: This project aimed to build consensual recommendations for practice in this context.

Methods: The SOFMER methodology was used to establish recommendations for physical medicine and rehabilitation: a steering committee defined the types of lumbar surgery involved and developed the main questions to be addressed; a scientific committee performed a literature review for grading evidence and proposed the first version of recommendations, which were discussed during a dedicated session at the national Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine congress; then an e-Delphi method with cross-professional experts was used to finalise recommendations and reach a multidisciplinary consensus.

Interdisciplinary consensus statements on imaging of scapholunate joint instability.

Objectives: The purpose of this agreement was to establish evidence-based consensus statements on imaging of scapholunate joint (SLJ) instability by an expert group using the Delphi technique.

Methods: Nineteen hand surgeons developed a preliminary list of questions on SLJ instability. Radiologists created statements based on the literature and the authors' clinical experience.

Prognosis of French COVID-19 patients with chronic liver disease: A national retrospective cohort study for 2020.

Background & Aims: The impact of chronic liver disease on outcomes in patients with COVID-19 is uncertain. Hence, we aimed to explore this association.

Methods: We explored the outcomes of all adult inpatients with COVID-19 in France, in 2020.

Quantification of Cystic Fibrosis Lung Disease with Radiomics-based CT Scores.

Purpose: To develop radiomics-based CT scores for assessing lung disease severity and exacerbation risk in adult patients with cystic fibrosis (CF).

Materials And Methods: This two-center retrospective observational study was approved by an institutional ethics committee, and the need for patient consent was waived. A total of 215 outpatients with CF referred for unenhanced follow-up chest CT were evaluated in two different centers between January 2013 and December 2016.

Adult human liver slice cultures: Modelling of liver fibrosis and evaluation of new anti-fibrotic drugs.

Background: Liver fibrosis can result in end-stage liver failure and death.

Aim: To examine human liver fibrogenesis and anti-fibrotic therapies, we evaluated the three dimensional liver slice (LS) model.

Methods: Fibrotic liver samples (F0 to F4 fibrosis stage according to the METAVIR score) were collected from patients after liver resection.

Hypotension in Preterm Infants (HIP) randomised trial.

Objective: To determine whether restricting the use of inotrope after diagnosis of low blood pressure (BP) in the first 72 hours of life affects survival without significant brain injury at 36 weeks of postmenstrual age (PMA) in infants born before 28 weeks of gestation.

Design: Double-blind, placebo-controlled randomised trial. Caregivers were masked to group assignment.

Isokinetic knee strength deficit in patients with moderate haemophilia.

Introduction: Knee joint bleedings are responsible for quadriceps atrophy and strength deficit in patients with severe haemophilia. Little is known about patients with moderate haemophilia (PWMH).

Aim: To evaluate isokinetic quadriceps and hamstrings strength in PWMH and to assess correlation with radiological and clinical parameter.

Preeclampsia before 26 weeks of gestation: Obstetrical prognosis for the subsequent pregnancy.

Introduction: Gestational age at delivery seems to be a risk factor of recurrence of preeclampsia. The objective of this study was to analyze adverse pregnancy outcomes and recurrence of preeclampsia during the subsequent pregnancy in women with a history of pre-eclampsia delivered before 26 weeks of gestation.

Material And Method: We performed a retrospective study in two French tertiary care hospitals between 2000 and 2018.
