Emergency vs Delayed Coronary Angiogram in Survivors of Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest: Results of the Randomized, Multicentric EMERGE Trial.

JAMA Cardiol

July 2022

Department of Cardiology, European Hospital Georges Pompidou, Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris, Paris Cité University, Sudden Cardiac Death Expert Center, INSERM U 971, PARCC, Paris, France.

Importance: Although an emergency coronary angiogram (CAG) is recommended for patients who experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) with ST-segment elevation on the postresuscitation electrocardiogram (ECG), this strategy is still debated in patients without ST-segment elevation.

Objective: To assess the 180-day survival rate with Cerebral Performance Category (CPC) 1 or 2 of patients who experience an OHCA without ST-segment elevation on ECG and undergo emergency CAG vs delayed CAG.

Design, Setting, And Participants: The Emergency vs Delayed Coronary Angiogram in Survivors of Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest (EMERGE) trial randomly assigned survivors of an OHCA without ST-segment elevation on ECG to either emergency or delayed (48 to 96 hours) CAG in 22 French centers.

Excessive alcohol consumption is the leading cause of liver diseases in Western countries, especially in France. Alcohol-related liver disease (ARLD) is an extremely broad context and there remains much to accomplish in terms of identifying patients, improving prognosis and treatment, and standardising practices. The French Association for the Study of the Liver wished to organise guidelines together with the French Alcohol Society in order to summarise the best evidence available about several key clinical points in ARLD.

Study Question: How has the performance of the European regional register of the European IVF-monitoring Consortium (EIM)/European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) evolved from 1997 to 2016, as compared to the register of the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the USA and the Australia and New Zealand Assisted Reproduction Database (ANZARD)?

Summary Answer: It was found that coherent and analogous changes are recorded in the three regional registers over time, with a different intensity and pace, that new technologies are taken up with considerable delay and that incidental complications and adverse events are only recorded sporadically.

What Is Known Already: European data on ART have been collected since 1997 by EIM. Data collection on ART in Europe is particularly difficult due to its fragmented political and legal landscape.

EMERGEncy versus delayed coronary angiogram in survivors of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest with no obvious non-cardiac cause of arrest: Design of the EMERGE trial.

Am Heart J

April 2020

Cardiology Department, European Hospital Georges Pompidou, Assistance Publique- Hôpitaux de Paris, Paris Descartes University, Sudden Cardiac Death Expert Center, INSERM U 971, Paris, France. Electronic address:

Background: In adults, the most common cause of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA) is acute coronary artery occlusion. If an immediate coronary angiogram (CAG) is recommended for survivors presenting a ST segment elevation on the electrocardiogram (ECG) performed after resuscitation, there is still a debate regarding the best strategy in patients without ST segment elevation.

Hypothesis: Performing an immediate CAG after an OHCA without ST segment elevation on the post-resuscitation ECG and no obvious non-cardiac cause of arrest could lead to a better 180-day survival rate with no or minimal neurological sequel as compared with a delayed CAG performed 48 to 96 hours after the arrest.

Pregnancy outcomes in prenatally diagnosed 47, XXX and 47, XYY syndromes: a 30-year French, retrospective, multicentre study.

Prenat Diagn

June 2016

Laboratoire d'Histologie, Embryologie, Biologie de la Reproduction, Cytogénétique et Génétique médicale, CHI Poissy Saint Germain, Poissy, France.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the unexpected prenatal diagnosis of sex chromosome aneuploidies (47, XXX and 47, XYY) in a French cohort to assess termination rates before and after multidisciplinary centers were established in 1997.
  • It found that most cases were diagnosed fortuitously, and maternal age was typically higher for 47, XXX cases, which had a slightly higher termination rate (22.9%) compared to 47, XYY (14.6%).
  • After 1997, significant decreases in termination rates were observed for both conditions, suggesting a positive impact of the new prenatal diagnostic centers.

Background: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 4 accounts for about 13% of global HCV infections. Because interferon-containing treatments for genotype 4 infection have low efficacy and poor tolerability, an unmet need exists for effective all-oral regimens. We examined the efficacy and safety of an all-oral interferon-free regimen of ombitasvir, an NS5A inhibitor, and paritaprevir (ABT-450), an NS3/4A protease inhibitor dosed with ritonavir (ombitasvir plus paritaprevir plus ritonavir), given with or without ribavirin.

Segmentation of embryonic and fetal 3D ultrasound images based on pixel intensity distributions and shape priors.

Med Image Anal

August 2015

Institut Mines-Telecom, Telecom ParisTech, CNRS LTCI, 46 rue Barrault, 75013 Paris, France.

This paper presents a novel variational segmentation framework combining shape priors and parametric intensity distribution modeling for extracting the fetal envelope on 3D obstetric ultrasound images. To overcome issues related to poor image quality and missing boundaries, we inject three types of information in the segmentation process: tissue-specific parametric modeling of pixel intensities, a shape prior for the fetal envelope and a shape model of the fetus' back. The shape prior is encoded with Legendre moments and used to constraint the evolution of a level-set function.

[Recommendations for genetic testing and management of individuals genetically at-risk of cutaneous melanoma].

Ann Dermatol Venereol

January 2015

Service de génétique, département de biologie et pathologie médicales, Gustave-Roussy, 114, rue Édouard-Vaillant, 94805 Villejuif cedex, France. Electronic address:

Cutaneous melanoma is a multifactorial disease resulting from both environmental and genetic factors. Five susceptibility genes have been identified over the past years, comprising high-risk susceptibility genes (CDKN2A, CDK4, and BAP1 genes) and intermediate-risk susceptibility genes (MITF, and MC1R genes). The aim of this expert consensus was to define clinical contexts justifying genetic analyses, to describe the conduct of these analyses, and to propose surveillance recommendations.
