The benefits and drawbacks of music in the operating room.

Introduction: A significant proportion of surgeons listen to music in the operating room (MOR) during a surgical procedure. Over the last twenty years, this practice has been widely studied. The aim of this article is to analyze the effects of MOR on surgical performance, postoperative history and, more generally, on communication in the operating theater.

Evaluation of rheumatoid arthritis-associated interstitial lung disease in patients treated with JAK inhibitors: a MAJIK-SFR cohort study.

Objective: To examine the course of interstitial lung disease associated with rheumatoid arthritis (RA-ILD) in France on treatment with Janus kinase inhibitors (JAKis) using the MAJIK-SFR registry.

Methods: Prospective national multicentre observational study identifying patients with RA-ILD from the MAJIK-SFR registry. Pulmonary assessment data were collected at JAKi initiation and follow-up visits (6 months, 12 months and a median of 21 months postinclusion), including chest high-resolution CT (HRCT), pulmonary function tests (forced vital capacity (FVC) and diffusing capacity of the lungs for carbon monoxide (DLCO)), acute exacerbations of ILD, respiratory infections and lung cancers.

The METACER national cohort study of brain metastases in gastrointestinal cancers prospectively establishes prognostic factors.

Purpose: Availability data are scarce and primarily retrospective in patients with brain metastasis (BM) from gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. The objective of this cohort was to determine prognostic factors for survival outcomes in patients with BM from GI cancers.

Methods: METACER is a national multicentric prospective cohort study which included patients with BM diagnosis during a histologically proven digestive cancer follow-up between 2010 and 2014.

Background: Sphingolipidoses are rare inherited metabolic diseases belonging to lysosomal diseases. Early and accurate diagnosis is crucial for effective management and treatment. In this study, we aimed to develop a robust method to accelerate the diagnosis of these sphingolipidoses using dried blood spots and plasma.

Background And Aims: Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is an autoimmune connective disease characterised by excessive extracellular matrix deposition and widespread skin and internal organ fibrosis including various cardiac manifestations. Heart involvement is one of the leading causes of death among patients with SSc. In this study, we aimed to assess the effect of various vasodilator treatments.

Can Morphology and Immune Infiltration Predict the Homologous Recombination Deficiency Status in Newly Diagnosed High-Grade Serous Ovarian Carcinoma?

Context.—: A correlation between the morphology of ovarian high-grade serous carcinomas (HGSOCs) and BRCA mutations has been previously reported.

Endoscopic papillectomy versus surgical ampullectomy for adenomas and early cancers of the papilla: a retrospective Pancreas2000/European Pancreatic Club analysis.

Objective: Ampullary neoplastic lesions can be resected by endoscopic papillectomy (EP) or transduodenal surgical ampullectomy (TSA) while pancreaticoduodenectomy is reserved for more advanced lesions. We present the largest retrospective comparative study analysing EP and TSA.

Design: Of all patients in the database, lesions with prior interventions, benign histology advanced malignancy (T2 and more), patients with hereditary syndromes and those undergoing pancreatoduodenectomy were excluded.

Real-life use of the PEXIVAS reduced-dose glucocorticoid regimen in granulomatosis with polyangiitis and microscopic polyangiitis.

Background: The PEXIVAS (Plasma exchange and glucocorticoids in severe antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis) trial showed that a reduced-dose glucocorticoid regimen (redGC) was non-inferior to a standard-dose regimen (standGC) with respect to death or end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) in patients with ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV). However, the primary endpoint did not include disease progression or relapse, cyclophosphamide was the main induction therapy and rituximab (RTX)-treated patients tended to have a higher risk of death or ESKD with redGC. We aimed to evaluate the real-world use of redGC.

Dupuytren's contracture: Is a history of percutaneous needle fasciotomy a risk factor for postoperative complications after secondary open fasciectomy? A retrospective study of 62 hands.

Introduction: Dupuytren's disease is a benign disorder leading to flexion contracture of the fingers and functional disability. Many treatments have been described. Open fasciectomy is the gold standard; however percutaneous needle fasciotomy (PNF) is a reliable option for uncomplicated primary contracture but it has a high rate of recurrence.

Background: The potential oncological benefit of extending the waiting period between neoadjuvant radiochemotherapy and surgical resection for rectal cancer is debated.

Objective: To evaluate the impact of prolonging this waiting period on the 5-year oncological prognosis and 2-year functional result of locally advanced rectal adenocarcinoma.

Design: Phase III, multicenter, randomized, open-label, parallel-group, controlled trial.

Atezolizumab Combined With Platinum and Maintenance Niraparib for Recurrent Ovarian Cancer With a Platinum-Free Interval >6 Months: ENGOT-OV41/GEICO 69-O/ANITA Phase III Trial.

Purpose: To evaluate atezolizumab combined with platinum-based chemotherapy (CT) followed by maintenance niraparib for late-relapsing recurrent ovarian cancer.

Methods: The multicenter placebo-controlled double-blind randomized phase III ENGOT-OV41/GEICO 69-O/ANITA trial (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT03598270) enrolled patients with measurable high-grade serous, endometrioid, or undifferentiated recurrent ovarian cancer who had received one or two previous CT lines (most recent including platinum) and had a treatment-free interval since last platinum (TFIp) of >6 months.

Clinical and radiological pattern of olaparib-induced interstitial lung disease.

Background: PARP inhibitors (PARPi) are used in the treatment of ovarian, breast, pancreatic, and prostate cancers. Pneumonitis has been identified as a potential side effect, with a higher meta-analysis-assessed risk for olaparib versus other PARPi. Olaparib-induced interstitial lung disease (O-ILD) was first described within the Japanese population, with few information available for Caucasian patients.

Efficacy and safety of the combination of encorafenib/cetuximab with or without binimetinib in patients with BRAF V600E-mutated metastatic colorectal cancer: an AGEO real-world multicenter study.

Background: The combination of encorafenib with cetuximab has become the standard of care in patients with BRAF V600E-mutated metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) after a prior systemic therapy. This study aims to describe the efficacy and safety of encorafenib/cetuximab +/- binimetinib in patients with BRAF V600E-mutated mCRC in a real-world setting.

Patients And Methods: This retrospective study included patients with BRAF V600E-mutated mCRC who received this combination from January 2020 to June 2022 in 30 centers.

[Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer and PARP inhibitors: From tumor genomics to new therapeutic combinations].

Castration-resistant metastatic prostate cancer remains lethal and a therapeutic challenge. Current strategies are geared towards the personalization of treatments based on the identification of relevant molecular targets, including genomic alterations involved in tumoral processes. Among these novel targeted therapies, poly-ADP-ribose polymerase inhibitors (PARPi), by blocking the action of enzymes involved in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) repair, induce the destruction of cells carrying defects in homologous recombination repair, often associated with alterations in genes involved in this mechanism.

Cumulative Detection of Anal High-Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesions Over 2-Year Follow-up in Men Who Have Sex With Men Living With Human Immunodeficiency Virus in France.

We assessed cumulative detection and determinants of anal high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSILs) in men who have sex with men living with human immunodeficiency virus and who underwent 3 visits over 2 years, with cytology and high-resolution anoscopy, within the ANRS-EP57-APACHES study. The cumulative HSIL detection rate was 33% (134 of 410), of which 48% HSILs were detected at baseline. HSIL detection varied considerably by center (from 13% to 51%).

Introduction: The position of the pelvis in the sagittal plane can vary considerably between different functional positions. Adapting the position of the acetabular cup in relation to the alignment between the spine and the hip of each individual, prior to prosthesis placement, can prevent the risk of prosthetic impingement. Taken individually, risk factors for unfavorable spinopelvic kinematics can be difficult to interpret when trying to precisely predict which patients are at risk.
